woot! im definately gonna watch that but will we be able to understand what Sylvester is saying in the movie? It was hard enough when he was young but he's like 60 now! lol

Lookin forward to that, based on that trailer.

I heard about this movie, well that there was going to be another Rocky and I just rolled my eyes.

BUT I just watched that trailer and i'm like "Hell Ya! ROCKY ROCKY ROCKY!"

I have to say I was skeptical at first but this looks like it might be decent.

My problem is that Stallone is way past his prime and I haven't seen him do anything decent in years.

My biggest issue and fear is:
Directed by: Sylvester Stallone
Written by: Sylvester Stallone
Starring: Sylvester Stallone

It sounds like he is desperately trying to save his career. These things never turn out good.

More proof he is making a career saving desperation move: Rambo IV.

This could go horribly bad or be great, but I know how most of these things turn out.

Sylvester Stallone just turned 60 6 days ago. 60!

Granted, he's in better shape than my grandpa at that age... but... he's 60!

What the hell is he going to be fighting in this movie? The Medicare prescription plan?

I see this one as a big flop, even if I did grow up a kid watching his movies and loving them when they were originally released.

Remember when he claimed he was going to make a movie about F1 and how it was going to be like Grand Prix, and what did we end up with? Remember when he was on Letterman claiming how great it was going to be, and how David wanted in, since he was a huge car racing fan? What did we get? Crap.

FoolKiller's gonna slap me across my face for this, but I haven't seen any Rocky movies either. :sly: I finally saw the first Superman the other day.

His "career" is pretty much straight-to-video these days, so it won't be that hard to save. :D

I love that movie! When I completed my widescreen/Dolby DTS system, that was one of the first DVDs that I watched. When that scene where Kip and Sylvester takes the racing cars onto the streets of Downtown Chicago comes up, I say stuff like "that is so awesome!".

You won't get slapped because you already know what you did wrong. Now make amends. While you are at it catch the Rambo trilogy too.

I want a good Rocky movie. It would be awesome, but I have feeling it will be in and out of theaters so fast that it might as well be straight-to-video.

For this I take back my first sentence. <SLAP> What's wrong with you? Are you sure we are talking about the same movie? Driven, the "F1 racing" movie? I would rather watch Driven on MTV.

I have those. :sly: "First Blood" is one of my favorite movies.

I feel like watching that movie right now, just talking about it.

For a 60 year old man, he's looking in good shape. 👍

Movie looks good, surely it can better the last one, right?

After watching the trailer it looks better than I expected.

I am sure they say the same thing every time Steven Seagal makes another movie.

And every time it does get better, that is if by better you mean, better off not being made.

the movie came out on DVD today so i rented it.

the movie is very good and very sad, but i think its a perfect ending to the series 👍

so did anybody watch it yet ???

FOOLKILLER i would love to here your thoughts on this movie based on your comments ;)

I watched it last night. I have to caveat this, that I hadn't had much sleep the night before, and I had worked a long day.

It took its sweet time getting to the training section of the movie, and really makes for a heart touching first hour. The training session begins after the first hour, and shoots right into the fight. I enjoyed it, even though the movie toddled along for the first hour.

It was n't so much about boxing, more about Rocky himself and what drives him. Personally I was very, very pleasantly suprised, I really enjoyed it. It did toddle alone at a slow pace for the first hour, but if a slow pace doesn't bother you, this could well be the best Rocky film of the lot.

This is a movie series I have yet to expose to my boys. I think it's about time I start.

Sounds like a good film. I had my doubts.

I've seen it, a friend of mine that is a Rocky fan thinks it was pretty bad but I like it.

Better than what I expected from it.

Let me quit working 12-16 hour days and I will happily rent it and give my opinion, as if I wouldn't have anyway.

Currently the same two Netflix movies have been sitting on top of my television for two weeks. I only worked about 11.5 hours on Friday and six hours on Saturday so things might be calming down.

So, it only took me a month. It far exceeded my expectations and I was happy to have watched it. It was well written, although it started a little slow and the small side story was unnecessary.

I paused it to talk to my wife before it even started getting into the boxing part and it occurred to me then that it was turning out to be really good. It ended perfectly. I watched the alternate ending and it had the outcome of the fight changed and left an opening for another movie, but they fortunately didn't go with that one. It would have been wrong.

If anyone is a fan of Heroes it has the guy who plays Peter Petrelli as his son.

Now, if we can just get Rambo IV to be as well done. I fear that Stallone's career isn't going to be saved by this because his personality and style of speech makes the characters. I mean, Rocky isn't Rocky without the nearly garbled "ADRIAN!" Rambo is the same way. His speaking style plays into the darker anti-hero persona. I think Stallone is type-cast and can't move on beyond this. Hopefully these two movies will be enough to let him retire.

One thing I took away from this movie: They moved the Rocky statue!!!!! I guess Metropolis, IL is going to move the Superman statue next.

Anyway, I found the history on the statue. http://www.ushistory.org/oddities/rocky.htm

While it was no classic, it was a lot better than what I was expecting to see.

I really liked the speech by Rocky to his son, just outside his restaurant. Now, that was classic. 👍

I agree, that was probably the best part of the entire movie, aside from when Rocky gives the lawyers/etc. a piece of his mind.

You mean the Gaming Commission? Yeah, that was awesome.
