Rome Total War - Disappearing game saves

I know, this is a GT forum, but I also know a fair few people play TW games...


So anyway, decided to play abit of Rome Total War to kill time over summer. Played a few hours then realised there's probably a few patches available so went and downloaded them. Restarted game, damn, where's my save gone. Ah well, not much lost.

However, playing again after 2 weeks off and I find they've disappeared again. No patch, and nothing else to suggest why they'd go. I think I found the folder they save in and that's empty aswell. Any ideas?
 
Try re-installing the game. Falling that. Is your PC well protected? Any viruses/malware been found by Spyware/AV machines? Firewall stopped any unknown programmes?

It's okay, asked a TW nerd friend and apparantley it's a well known issue with Vista. Vista does something weird regarding user profiles and saves games within these. Got it sorted now, thanks for the effort 👍
 
Ooh, have I been good enough to go on a Vista rant? I believe it's to do with the virtual store thingmabobbycrap.
 
I don't know if Rome has support anymore. They've done two whole games since then.
