Well since both threads about the subject are locked I'm posting this as a new one. Maybe a mod can merge this to Diego's thread later. :)

Ron Dennis to stay on as McLaren F1 team boss
11 March 2008

McLaren Formula 1 team boss Ron Dennis has told his staff in the factory he has decided to continue leading the team in Formula 1. Media speculations suggested Dennis was about to stand down from his position as team boss, but the 60-year-old Briton has now decided to stay.

The team confirmed Ron Dennis had informed his staff at the Woking factory just before he flew to Melbourne for the first race of the 2008 Formula 1 season.

I'll be the first to concede the rumours, though widespread, appear unfounded. An announcement of sorts is expected in Australia concerning his future. I'll admit he's got guts.

I really don’t want to say “I told you so” but…

I imagine Dennis might have seriously considered retirement were it not for Spygate, but given the events of last year he decded to stay on to see it through rather than drop it all on someone else.

I agree. He'll retire with McLaren as World Champions. Probably not this year, but soon.

drama in F1 is unlike any other.., can't wait to see the stories (especially this one) unfold..,

If not as World Champions, he'll at least see out the consequences of Spygate. When Martin Whitmarsh takes over, McLaren will once more be eligible to score constructors' points, something which I imagine would be very frustrating, even for Dennis.

When your right, enjoy it! I thought NOONE could survive that which RD did. I pity him that it might have cost him his marriage though. Lesser men would have 'cracked'. 2008 is here, let's race!
