"Round 3 Update: Round 3 of GT Academy will begin Monday February 21 at 9 AM EST, and run until Sunday February 27 at midnight EST. Round 3 is open to all 128 players per region who qualified for Round 2, and the top 8 players per region in Round 3 will advance to the National Finals event. Good luck!"

Good luck in round 3 to everyone 👍

My bosses are totally supportive. They already know I may need to take some time off and don't have a problem with it at all. 👍

Edit: I work in the automotive industry, so that might have something to do with it...

I work for a financial institution and they're still cool with taking time off... because they don't ask my why I want to use my vacation days. If I worked for a company that needed me to justify my vacation days I would stop working there.

least the nationals are all expenses paid
don't think you'll even have to pay for food

Yeah I figured that. I can afford it if I need to pay for little stuff like food though. But getting a little ahead of myself here. Who knows if I'll even make it.

Well, most expenses paid anyway. It sounds like you'll have to pay for food:

All expenses and incidental travel costs not expressly stated in the package description above, including ground transportation, meals, incidentals, passenger tariffs or duties, surcharges, airport fees, service charges or facility charges, personal charges at lodging, security fees, taxes or other expenses are contestants’ sole responsibility.

We'll not sure what all that stuff is, but I just hope it's not too much. I'd hate to not be able to go just because I can't afford it.

Good luck to you too Blindside.

On that note, I want to say to all of the great guys I've met through the academy, and race with online, or chat with on the forums - a special thank you and the very best of luck in Round 3.

Really, it's been the greatest pleasure to battle with you and improve my skills in GT5, being pushed to the limit by some of the best in the country. No doubt, it has caused me to think critically about my own real world driving technique, and for sure, in some measurable way, I will be faster because of it.

And last, I've made some good friends through all of this - and I'm very thankful for that. I hope that these friendships continue beyond the Academy.

Cheers guys, and give it absolute hell next week.

Nick

Has anyone heard about what is gonna happen with the promised collectors edition of the game for those who moved on to round three? Logic tells me the top 16 of each region in this round will get it but I have heard nothing to confirm my intuition.

I guess I'll have nobody to race with this week then :(

Good luck to you all 👍 Hope to see some familiar names going to Orlando so I can at least say "I beat that guy online once..."

Too bad Canada got left out in the cold this time :irked:

Well as I can imagine, there won't be any tech discussion on this round. We'll be separating the men from the boys. Good luck to all, and I hope to see the other top 31 in Orlando.

This will be interesting if the replays are disabled as they are right now. This will really change the strategy of others.

Good luck to all this week.

Good luck to all this week.

Now, if we can get a time, or lap limit, then it will be close to real qualifying.
Good luck dudes, here is to a major power outage in every NE state but WV (because it supplies most the power around here ;)).

I hope the replays don't work. I pretty much never use someone else's ghost. I can usually figure out what's a fast line, it's just a matter of executing it.

If you think about it, disabling replays will hurt those who do not have a good understanding of line theory or the ability to analyze their own laps - both are skills that translate to real life - instead relying on their feel for the car/physics of the game...which doesn't translate so well. So it's probably a good thing for the competition.
