I have been going threw this for about 2 months now.

My PS3 won't stay connected to PSN for more then 10-15mins. Originally i thought it was my old 80 gig just giving up so I went and bought a brand new PS3 and it did not change anything so i know my router is the problem.

What in the router would be causing a confliction.

If you have gone threw this can you please shed some light on the situation. Thanks

If you use wireless then pug the router directly into the PS3 through ethernet. Stopped all my troubles

Not a tech wiz by no means and had same problem and called Sony for help. I was told by Sony step by step how to go to router settings and set the router up to work better with my ps3 I think they said it was porting the router. They also walked me through how to set the router to a nat2 setting then I had to call my ISP and have them change my modem to a nat2 setting. The process Sony had me do took around 30 minutes and then around 10 minutes with my ISP. Since this was done I've had no issues at all. Hope this helps.

The router/modem is from BELL and it says (2701HG-G Gateway) when i search it in browser.

When i do the PS3 connection automatically it asks me for a pppoe username and password and wont let me go any further. 👎

If i give it a static IP address and open DNS server i can get connected for 5-10 minutes and then get booted off.

The funny part is if i redo the connection test right after getting booted it will connect again no problem, then another 5-10 minutes pass and it will drop again.

Would the channel my router is set on (7 in this case) create this problem?

THIS IS DRIVING ME TO DRINK :scared:

I run a Linnksys WRT54G, old school router. I added my own SSID and password and left the rest as is. No issues wifi or wired, but I leave it wired for max speeds. I am pretty sure the newer Linksys will work ok as well for you.

Most likely, a faulty cable. Always check your cables first. Bad plug, rust etc can cause the above problem easy.

Second, youre using wireless, its never gonna be as reliable as an ethernet cable. I dont know how far you are from your wireless, but thats a factor too
You should do all that nat 2 connection, dmz stuff. And reserve an ip address for your ps. Youtube has plenty of info.

If that doesnt work, get your internet provider to come over and setup your connection, maybe even get your router replaced.

Some times it's just the router itself being out of date and not having the up to date software installed to correctly deal with the data loads you are putting on the router. I had two routers die on me in the past 15 years doing odd stuff like dropping connection even when it was a wired connection. My guess is that your router is one of those Cable Modem/Router all in one solutions that cable companies use, check their site to see if you have the most up to date modem/router if not you should be able to return it free of charge for an upgraded device. Then go through the steps to set up your router for NAT 2 and always DMZ your PS3 to keep it open for connections when gaming. If you use your PS3 for surfing(bad idea) then I would be hesitant to use DMZ.
