I have a DIY rig that is quite sturdy but as of late I get complaints from my family that it is an eye sore in the living room.
I have a fealing I will get Fanatec Podium wheel soon and whant to upgrade.

I plan to use the rig on casters.

Anyone that used any of those rigs?
How are the "on the fly" adjustments? (i'm disabled so it is dificult sometimes rescrewing stuff etc)

Overall rigidity etc.

I watched SimPit review of the S1 but these days you can't trust one review.

Sim-Lab GT1 Evo with caster wheels here. It's super sturdy, as for the look though, it's gonna be up to the people around you.

80/20 tends to look "industrial", but is the best path to an endlessly upgradeable rig. As for adjustments, it's relatively easy work. You undo a few bolts and move it around, then screw it back in tight and it won't move from there. I'd say that some rigs will probably be faster to adjust, but none will be as sturdy as a good 80/20 rig. Look at the Sim Racing Garage review of the P1 and GT1 Evo to give you a good idea of how these rigs are made. That'll give you an idea of what adjustments will look like.

Sim-Lab makes amazing kits, offer a lot of pre-made accessories and their support is awesome. Darko over there will answer your questions quickly if you have any.

Top Tip: use a motorbike or small car cover on your rig (depending on it's size). Makes it less of an eye sore, & keeps it from getting dusty as well; it's a win win.

What a brilliant idea 👍... and I've had a motorbike cover laying around since my bike was written off :(, at least I can put it to some use .

About 1400mm once assembled. The bottom extrusion is 1350mm, add a seat and a few bits and it's about 1400mm total

By the looks of it S1 would be easier for me to get in/out ( I have trouble fully bending my legs)
It is hard to decide

Hello,

I use RSEAT RS1 and N1 - both are great IMO...I tested S1 and it is awesome - have some N1 DNA in it ...
I have dissabled brother...dunno what is your type of dissability, but I think that "S1 Frame only" will be great and you can put there almost any seat...I am telling this, because I am not sure how the racing bucket is ok for you... I ride motorbikes and have serious back injury...so sitting in it longer makes me feel pain. This is for every racing bucket . The best solution for me is to add Gaming Chair - still racing looking, but with reclining back. The frame only model is different from S1 with removed seat. The frame only model is made to accomodate different seats.
Also if you need something special that needs some extra holes - I will ask in the factory to be made for you!

Best regards!

I have cerebral palsy. Siting is not a problem but we are in general less flexible in terms of bending etc. From the looks of it S1 has more space from the side to get out.

My current "rig" consists of gaming chair + wooden frame (kinda like 8020) and sometimes legs get stuck while getting out on those vertical pieces infront of the seat.

I'm also using a buttkicker (I live in an apartment). Now I have a rubber dampers on my seat (they work quite well). Does anyone have any experience with suspension casters ( https://image.made-in-china.com/2f0j00TeuQDnqzhOck/Heavy-Suspension-Casters-Wheel.jpg ) ?

I think that the S1 design will give you the needed space...also you can see RS1 - I love mine and if you go out from the left - it is absolute open...

To my understanding RS1 does not support casters.

Is that handle in front required on the S1?

All RSEAt Rigs support legs and you can change them with casters...I have caster on my RS1. The handle infront of S1 is for sliding pedals plate...I upgraded my RS1 pedals add on, so I have handle on RS1, too;) In general if you dont like it after setting up on your desired place of the pedals you can remove it, but the pedals will stay on their place until you install it again.:)

I read on reddit:

"
I emailed Rseat Europe about the same question not long ago. This is what they said

“The RS1 will not be able to handle the casters, as we have made testing internally, and it was not efficient enough from our point of view.

The risk here is to damage the threads below the frame.

Best solution is to have a look at the S1, which is a seat designed to be casters ready.”

"

That is why I ruled out the RS1.

Will need to mesure the space between my sofa and tv again (forgot exact clearance)

They said right, because there cases very heavy people to break casters on RS1...So, if you put one is on your risk, risk which I took ... Ofcourse better to follow their official advice. The S1 difference is that lay on 6 casters which make the weight better distributed. Sadly RS1 have only 4 mounting points underneath.
Maybe in your case S1 is better even in assembling and setting ...RS1 is one huge piece of equipment - I mean those curved tubes are welded on the rig , so I remember it was even challenge to put it inside my home/room;) I was hugged it like you hug woman to dance on a romantic song ...LoL

Yes, but I plan to use casters (which technically weaken the rig)

I get that. Do you have carpet? otherwise this might be a solution at 5:35:

I sadly have no room for a dedicated rig, but In my opinion the simetek K2 looks compact, without sacrificing rigidity and has more adjustments possible.

Shinu - where are you from?
Lithuania - not very much you can get or try here.

Edit :
8020 was kinda vetoed by family.

I have exactly 1.6m space in length so from my understanding S1 Should fit

Now I'm looking if there are casters (with m8 thread) that could absorb buttkicker. My rubber dampening feet would defeat the purpose
