Hey guys,

Loving the rally racing in this one, might be my favorite part of the game to be honest... Doing the rally special events and I can easily win gold in the snow and tarmac events but I'm having a lot of difficulty in the gravel.

Should I be trying to get the back end loose around the corners, or downshifting further to get more pull coming through said corners? Open to any suggestions please.

Oh, car is just the Suzuki SX4 though I've been tempted to drop the 850k on the Subara rally car in the premium dealership. Thoughts?

Thanks!!!

Have you done the Seb Loeb challenges yet?
If so the C4 you win is good enough to win the events.
Later on in the extreme you will need a better car and i won the T16 and used that to get all golds.

Not sure on the T16 either, but working towards it now.

The problem you probably have is TCS will be on, turn it off !

Turn in before you get to the corner and using higher gears early gets grip better. Always start the race in 2nd gear and its much better.

Turned off TCS and, uh, wow. Thank you! Does anyone use the e-break to spin around the 1st gear corners?

Also, is there a website that translates for this dim Yank what the rally co-driver/navigator person is actually saying?

Its not a language problem, its just confusing!! The way I see it is:
Number followed by direction ie. '4 left' is the severity of the corner followed by the direction.
Corner severity numbers increase as the corners are easier, ie. 1 left is hairpin (1st or 2nd gear) 2 left use 2nd and so on, 7 is flat out or as close as you can get to it.

The higher numbers (300 or 600) means straight for that distance.

Like I said this is just the way I see it but I hope it's of some use.

Like you, I had massive difficulty in the gravel events.

What I changed was the approach to each corner in order to keep sliding to a minimum. It'll take some getting used to, but try to be as smooth as you possibly can and hug the inside of the corner as much as you can. Power-slides and bouncing off the rev limiter is obviously more fun...but ultimately it's slower.

I also tried to stay 1 gear higher than the HUD flashes. I did this to minimize wheel spin and get a good exit out of the corner.

If you brake early, avoid sliding too much, and limit wheel spin coming out of the corners - you should absolutely murder the AI and win gold. It won't be fun, but it'll be fast.

I'm glad I'm not the only one having problems with the rally events. I can't win any of them, best I was able to do was bronze on the snow one. I'm driving a 245hp Lancia Delta Integrale but I must be doing something wrong because I just plain stink at it. I have what I think is a pretty clean stage and I end up like 2-4 seconds behind the leader and in 4th.

The times that the a.i. post, and the power levels of the cars they use seem to be horribly inconsistent. If you're driving well and are really behind on the first or 2nd stage, restart and sometimes you will get easier times/courses.

I would also recommend the Toyota Celica GT-Four from the premium dealer, it's a hefty investment but I've used it for pretty well all of the rally events successfully, it's tuned nicely right out of the box too.

If you're cheap, you can find a Ford Escort Rally car and the Toyota Corolla Rally Car in the Used Car Dealership for a pretty reasonable price. They're all modded up, just need to buy the correct tires and give it an oil change and it will be close to 345hp.

The Escort Rally Car destroys the AI cars on gravel...if, and that's a big "if", you're smooth and don't slide too much or go bouncing off of barriers.

*forgot to add*

You win the Corolla Rally Car, so you may want to think twice before picking it up used. But if push comes to shove, you may want to anyway.

I used the '85 Lancia Delta S4 rally car fully tuned but can't win the Tarmac Master in Advanced Rally special. I destroyed the Snow one, just barely beat the Gravel one, but the Tarmac, man, racing slicks on wet road = spin-out. I swear this game makes it impossible to not be completely 180 degrees facing the wrong way when you spin, or nose against the wall. When I use the paddles, it sucks because I have to put the gear shifter in reverse, and by then I've lost all hope of winning. Tarmac Master is impossible. I have 510hp and under 900kg. Traction on 5, ABS on 5.

Thanks for the feedback guys, picked up a silver and a gold. :)

Also, it's nice to know what that guy is talking about finally.
