My ps3 had blu ray drive failures , after i replaced the whole lens section. I had backed up my save , after i started playing i noticed on some cars there is no engine sound and on some there is a wierd engine sound. Video made.
Car in the video is a Lambo Murci Superveloce tuned. This car never made such sound before , there is clearly something fishy.
When i hold X and Square to Launch the car there is no engine sound at all

sounds like all you're getting is wind noise or gear whine and no engine

Im installing the update lets see.....if it fixes this.

Some cars just sound terrible in general though. The Cougar, for example, in game sounds like a old vacuum, and in real life sounds like this:

Yes but thats not the case here , the never sounded like this before

Ok. I had the same problem and this fixed it for me.

Step 1 - Go to sound settings in the options and set every value to zero.

Step 2 - Exit and allow the game to save.

Step 3 - Quit to XMB and reboot GT5.

Step 4 - Go back to options and set sound values to 100 across the board.

Step 5 - Exit and allow the game to save.

Step 6 - Quit to XMB and reboot GT5.

Your sounds should be working fine now. Good luck.

There only seems to be the transmission whine you're hearing and the wind (with the occasional thuds :) ).

Are you using surround sound at all? Does this only occur with vehicles with the engine behind the driver (i.e. MR, RR, and some 4WD)?

The Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce '09 is a 4WD vehicle, but the engine is situated behind the driver, but just ahead of the rear axle making it also a mid-ship. Try another car with a mid or rear engine setup (MR, RR, or some 4WD) and see of the problem persists. Then, try other cars with a front engine layout (FR, FF, or most 4WD) and see if the problem persists.

On FR there is no sound at all , and on AWD i get the sound in the video. No i dont have any surround sound , the ps3 is hooked up with a HDMI cable directly to the tv , no extra speakers or anything.

And these are stock?
Nope.

FIXED after updating game!

Nope.

Want a stock one? Sounds even better to me. Go to the Ford lovers thread with the video of the blue truck.

Actually, I can't defend GT5's engine sound.
787B is probably the only car that sounds like it should (almost).

The bugatti veyron's engine sound sounds funny. But I agree with Ecchi-BANZAII!!, the Mazda 787B is so far the best sound in GT5. Wait a sec, my birthday persent has the best sound in GT5. :D

Here is a better one.

Just in case anyone else has sound problems and none of the above works: Try cleaning your disc. Mine had a smudge at one point and the sounds became worse than usual.

How are all the GT5 cars going to sound like the ones you hear on the street? Different cam lift and timing and cars using glass pack or steel pack mufflers really sound different from one another.
