I know that this is a subject that makes people go red in the face. I know I've wanted to scream at the TV from getting kicked out a lot. But I really want to know not about the car choices of why you have been kicked out but the stupid and ignorant people that make gt5 online bad. Have you been kicked out because your British and you want to join a French host. Or kicked out because you outsmarted the host and won the race. Even if the room says Australians only should that mean we should not be aloud to race?????? Your thoughts ?

Well the room country limitations are most likely to keep the lag to a minimum. Don't take it personal.

I'm curious how you outsmart a host and win? Seems a bit fishy...
I've never been kicked so I'm thinking it may be a attitude thing based on this.

The quality of online gaming in peer-to-peer games is heavily influenced by geographical distance between players due to latency. If there's 7 Australians playing each other and a Brit joins from 13,000 miles away, it'll absolutely massacre their game quality - it'll take more than half a second (and more like a full second) to send information between the machines, as opposed to less than a tenth without the Brit.

So it makes sense to have nationality-restricted rooms (assuming nationality equals geographic location, of course).

You are lucky. When I mean outsmart it means like tactically. I have got into dirty races before with hosts (mainly 7 year olds) because they are immature. One time this kid said if I won he would leave and i would become host or if he won he would kick me. It was a "Volkswagen only" race but as I leaved garage with a beetle he has started the race and it says he is in an x1. I use an x1 to and he screams in his mic that that's not fair. I say I'm bad in it and I easily beat him. The corner at cote du Azur really made him stop and he then says bye bye I think he's leaving and then bam I'm kicked

As an American, I try as much as possible to be around people with British accents.

I understand this but that was a bad example. Britain and. France are better. Isn't that much distance let I'm always kicked out for being English. And I have never once been told I affected there racing. I'm told to go drink tea and go to the dentist then kicked out

I think the seemingly racist against everyone Top Gear host is giving Brits a bad name. Being that show is quite popular among the same crowd maybe it's translating into some backlash.
 
I don't have much of a problem with people...except in NASCAR lobbies. Trust me, it gets ugly...
 
I've gotten kicked from British rooms often because of my American PSN. That's why I only join North American or South American rooms. It could very well be because of the reason that Famine explained though. But sometimes I find rooms that say things like "if U.S then kik." So yeah...

And OP, it's also good to use common sense. If you see a "-insert county- only" room, is better not to join if you have a different flag. There are still plenty of rooms everyday that you can join. Or do like the majority; play with your friends only.

I also try to look for rooms without Mic. I've noticed that in those rooms you can find people who usually just want to play casually and have some fun minding their own business.

You will get kicked because of your region, because you use the wrong car, because of your name, because its a Tuesday, because of no reason at all. And there is nothing you can do to avoid it

Mind your own business and take negative experiences with a grain of salt

I can not even conceive a more insignificant problem that a person can face

IMO, people should stick to their own regions with lobbies. I feel a Brit or an American should only join if they know someone in the room. Why? Because latency.

I run drift rooms all the time. Mostly Au/NZ people join, and people on my friends list. Sometimes Japanese people join as well. This is all good, because they have good connections. If a Portuguese person joins, there is immediate lag. I don't like to, but i have to do "border patrol" and kick those from Europe. From their point of view, I had no reason to kick them and possibly see me as racist (rarely however, most people understand).

People who join and cause lag are digging their own grave in a way, as it irritates those who know there will be lag.

I enterd myb 2 or more times in australia room and people just kick you WHY? lag LoL I dont think

when I am looking for a room I find moustly australian rooms and I dont enter because I know I will get kick FUNNY

french , australian dont like italians
they just see a flag and kick you

I sometimes do, but if I do they still keep drifting and lagging so i kick them anyway. Half the time they can't speak english so there's no point telling them in a way. I don't like to kick people, but I have to so the room won't be filled with cars spazzing out.

The race quality depends on the geographical distance? Hmm. I remember I've been racing with a guy from Vladivostok (this city is in Russia, too, but it's 9,000 km away from me), I was the host, and we didn't have any problems.

Most of times i get kicked out from UK Lobbys right after i entered the lobby.

I think you're wrong, you should let the people know that they're lagging by sending them a message via PS Network, you probably didnt have luck and only have portuguese players with bad connection but most of them have good connection actually.

now you sound like , if a portuguese joins, you kick him right away, you dont even give him a try to do 1 lap... yea thats why we got this thread here.

I'm sorry you have met such bad Brits. I don't care who joins my lobby's it there attitude that is what makes me kick people. I think because it lags is a terrible excuse to kick someone. And maybe it lags because of a bad Internet connection from your side that can't deal with places further way.

My personal favorite part of this is when you have a fellow countryman join using wi-fi hot spot from an iPhone so they are jack hammering their way around the track, so you kick them and they send you hate mail that you can't understand,

however, I have known people to get offended or offensive by Australian headset banter, to us its water off the ducks back, as we grew up with the sledging, banter etc its somewhat the Australian way in Australian culture, so kicking people who get outright offensive because of the way we chat or get offended by a few blokes having a few beers and a laugh on a Friday night I'd rather avoid and remove people who don't share the same flag,

But, my series that I run here on GTP encourages anyone with good driving ethics, race craft, good internet connect and a sense of humor to join, regardless of region,
 
Yeah a couple of months ago I got kicked because i was Canadian. The host had his mic on and said something like: "look guys it's a Canadian! they suck at this game". Heard some laughs over the mic then I was kicked.

It was a mixed room in terms of nationality so I figured the host had a skewed perception of canadians thinking they can't race or something.
