I really like Porsche and was sad to see them not in the game, but I noticed on some races, there are Porsche "looking" cars. I did some more digging and found out they are made by this company RUF, which builds off of Porsche cars. RUF is not at the dealer and I haven't spotted them in used or online dealerships. Anyone know how to get one???
 
Ruf is a German manufacture. They take Porche chasis and basically build them from the inside to their own specs. The most popular/famous one is the Yellow Bird. As far as i know the only ways to get them are by winning in a race, checking the online dealerhip often, and checking the Used Car Dealerhsip often as well. They aren't cheap though
 
All 5 RUF (pronounced roof) cars show up pretty regularly...I own an 86 RUF Turbo IRL, and I can attest to PD's driving physics on this one....👍
 
Porsche is by far my favorite manufacture.

I was also disappointed with the exclusion of Porsche in GT5
To ease my pain I fully modded a yellowbird
Complete beast in a straight line.

IMO the only two worth buying are the CTR 2 and Yellowbird.

Hate the rims on the CTR2 wish I could change them :(

I think why Porsche isnt in GT5 is cos EA own the right to use Porsche. No one else can.

I've got all but one RUF.

Haven't driven them yet lol
 
RUF and Porsche are the same thing pretty much exactly. RUF is sort of a tuning/car modifier for Porsche cars. Pretty much just a rebranded Porsche.
 
They are more than just a tuning company (although you can buy RUF parts for your Porsche).

Ive got all 5 and they are all in my favourites (along with both my holdens :P)

Yeah I kinda think they are the same thing as Spoon for Honda and NISMO but they arent into full on racing I dont think. I really have no idea since I live in Canada and that is half way across the world.
 
I saw a RUF CTR2 ‘96 in the used dealer list once and I passed. If I see it again, I will buy it.

Yep, they buy chassis of Porsche and build them from the ground up! They have RUF Chassis numbers, whereas a tuner like Gemballa still has the Porsche chassis number.
 
Either way they are the same thing pretty much. They look the same, sound the same, drive the same.

Porsche =/= RUF
 
I wish in GT6 there is a Porsche Dealership and RUF too

They only look the same, everything else is different.

Ruf is in a weird place in the tunner market. They can, and will, tune your Porsche but they can also build you a car with its own vin number, from Ruf. A real Ruf has engineering differences from the factory, for one they change the location of the gas tank.

Ruf>Porsche Porsche comes up with the idea, and Ruf perfects it!!

I respectfully disagree. I look for RUFs every time I enter the UCDs and thus far have only see two RUFs. A CTR (bought it immediately) and a 3400S which I passed on. I'm still very much interested in buying a BTR and Yellow Bird (one of my favorites from GT4). I've had the game since the day it came out so, at the least on my system, the RUFs are quite rare.:grumpy:

But it's not the same. GT5 with a handful of premium Porsches would have been awesome... a Le Mans race or 24h Nurburgring without Porsche is criminal... they have so much racing heritage... Porsche is also my favorite manufacturer and it hurts that I have to use standard RUFs to cope... to make it even worse, sifting through the used dealership for one is a pain...
 
It depends on your take on regular or rare. If you play enough and check it enough they can be showing up every day.

It took me a couple of dozen checks over the course of a few days to find a Yellowbird. An RGT had also shown up which I grabbed.
 
Well I can attest to the BTR's rarety (RUF really didnt produce that many), I check the UCD religiously and Ive seen it 3 times in 1700 in game days and 2 showed up within a few days of each other, of corse I bought all 3.
The 3400s is maybe the next rarest I think its showed up 4-5 times so far. Then the CTR2 and CTR are tied as the most common but still a bit on the rare side, I've seen them at least a half dozen times in 1700 days.

This said I always thought EA's Porsche Unleashed was awesome in its day. I used to love the chronological game mode.

PD seems to always have obscure excuses, there's definitely something more to it. Remember when PD said they couldn't implement damage in GT4 because manufacturers wouldn't allow it? That was a load...

That game was awesome! And yes I don't understand why Porsche isn't in the game!👎 They're the prototypical race car manufacturer, more than anyone else. It's ridiculous that they're not included in the top racing simulator:grumpy:

Well ive got no clue now why they're not in GT5.
 
I am also a big fan of the RUF cars

I myself have the RGT, and CTR2. The RGt is somewhat common, ive seen it a couple times. I've only seen the CTR2 once, which i grabbed.

I really hoped they would have the CTR3. That thing is a monster.

I wish they couldve used 997 based RUF models
