I just raced the Swiss Alps Rally Race w/my CTR2 fully modified and my best lap was a 1min 13.102. I dont know how fast that is compared to other peoples times but i thought it was fast since my best in the lancer evo6 rally car was a 1min 19.420 and with the 22b was a 1min 18.320.

To moderators this is not a challenge I just want other members input on if my times are fast or not.

Prepare for SpoonSports!

My lap record is about the same 1:13:5 something, but it was in the corolla rally car... I havent tried the RUF an a rally track...

Cool, i'm not all that great at rally, i mean i try and all but i really suck at it.

The RUF CTR2 does not make a great rally car either. Converting street cars into rally cars usually does not work, even if the car makes gobs of power. You would probably get a good time with a rally car outfitted with a larger turbo, like a 400hp Lancer or Impreza.

screw that just get the escudo and burn the compition strait to hell!

isn't the RUF CTR2 based on the Porsche 959 which was designed for group B rallies. If that is true then it isn't really a street car, more like a rally car changed into a street car and then changed back.

Ten years after the CTR´s presentation, the time was right for a successor:

Just like the Yellow Bird presented in 1987, the CTR 2 sports an array of technically innovative features underlining its top position within the RUF model range.

For the first time ever, the combination of carbon fibre brake discs and 19" magnesium wheels is used in a road legal sports car. The 3,600 cm³ flat six twin turbo´s peak power output is 520 bhp at 5,800 rpm. Beyond its aerodynamic use, the CTR 2´s rear wing serves as an airbox and as an inlet to feed the intercoolers.

Apart from RUF sport seats, instruments & gauges, the interior attracts one´s attention with an Integrated Roll Cage (IRC) which CANNOT be seen at the very first sight.

However, these are only a few aspects of a car the media compare to the likes of the McLaren F1 or the Ferrari F50...

I'm not positive about this, but the Group B rally series was canceled after the 1986 season, before the 959 project even started. The FIA group B that the 959 was designed for was the grand touring road class. The 4wd system from the 959 made its way into the porsche rally program, but thats it. The 959 was a technology showcase more than a production car.

The CTR2 isnt based on the 959 though. Its based on a 993 with a turbo 962 racing engine.

962, now thats a real car. I would prefere the 962cr, one bada$$ car. If any one was wondering the Le Mans racing version of the 959 is the 961.
