Can someone settle a dispute for me, please. Does the current 'one move only' rule in F1 state that a driver can only make one move across the track per race, or does it state that a driver can only make one move across the track per straight?

I believe the rule is one move per straight, my friend thinks it's one move per race. I tried searching for a link to the rules on the FIA site but couldn't find a set of rules containing this.

TIA.

For the purpose of the arguement it means 1 per straight.

It simply means you can only change your line once per corner i.e. you can't move to the inside to block someone on the straight then move back to the racing line just before the braking zone.

Cool, exactly as I thought. I was accused of being a 'Schumacher' yesterday after moving once along the main straight.

No,no, it simply means that when you move to the inside to block someone you can't move to the outside again. You have to stay inside. It's on a per corner basis.

Pretty much what Blake said. :)

Yeah, the rule is once per corner. For example, remember the European GP.

In the beginning stages of the race Narain Karthikeyan was able to hold Jacques Villenueve for 10 lap in a slower car. Jacques was very pissed off about it but there was nothing he could have done as Narain was driving within the rules. He changed his driving line to defensive before the corner, braked early and then accelerated using the Toyota engine torque. He did this at almost every corner and not being able to pass was Jacques problem, not his. Well done Narain 👍
