Didn't see a thread for this, so here it is.
Rust is a post apocalypse survival game that is focused on building bases, and raiding other bases. I am honestly not sure if that was by design or human nature, but it surely can get intense.
The idea is that you start off literally naked, with just a rock and a torch. Gathering resources, you build tools, cloths and shelter. You hunt and scavange, picking up goods and blueprints along the way. Blueprints can be used to learn how to build new structures, tools and weapons. Do it alone and try your luck, or partner up with people and build a large tribe. Just expect that at some point, someone (or someone's) somewhere is going to come and raid you, and you will at some point login, waking up on a beach, a be completely naked once again.
The game is a Steam title on the PC and is currently in alpha, and has been for the past three years. The devs are still adding content, but I won't lie, graphics and some physics are...
. However, the fact of the matter is that doesn't deter from gameplay itself. The experience of conducting even mudane tasks such as mining rocks or chopping down trees will have you paranoid of every sound. Always trying to mind not only the dangers of the environment, but also gauge every individual you happen across. Flee, fight or converse. Sometimes there is no right choice.
So, anyone else around here playing this game? A group of friends and I have been having some fun on a small server we stood up, learning the games mechanics. We will be getting on to a larger public server soon to try our hand at playing with and against others. Perhaps we could form a GTP coalition or something.
Below is a video showing how crazy it can get.
