hey guys im new here...and i recently got into racing after watching all of initial D, i have a rx7 on gran turismo 3 and would like help on how to drift....co i wanna learn and beat my brother at it...anyway i kinda do a drift already but i dunno fi its right or not so could someone tell me ny websites or anything so i could learn?

^.^ like them rotorys eh?

beleve it or not there is a hudge drifting scene beyond ID, and i would hate to see good potential stuck behind the physics of a comic book.

Dont get me wrong, i love ID, but dont mold your self after it, because it is only a comic, and there is much more to it.

i dont mean to be mean, but i though you should know...

if you wanna beat your brother, why would you want to learn how to drift? contrary to initial d, drifting isnt exactly racing, its more of an exhibition kind of thing. sure people use drifting while racing everyonce and a while, but thats never the 1st choice. traction is what gets your car moving fast. thats why they call track racing in japan "grip"

sorry guys....wot i really wanted to know what to do was an "inertia drift" cos i know you go pretty fast on the corners....can anyone do one...can you teach me?

i thought drifitng was generally a betetr technique at mastering corners and goin for fast laps.... thats why i thought i could beat my brother by doin that

well nobody can teach you.maybe somone well give you a video so it can help but you are the one who has do it so...it need practise and if you want beat your bro while drifting well be you have to try speed drifting.👍

Everyone keeps saying this but it's not true. Grip racing isn't the art of going fast, it's the art of preserving tires and fuel. Grip allows you to brake later because you have more traction when your tires aren't sliding so you can brake harder. However, in drifting the exit angle can be achieved in some cases before the driver even hits the apex. As a result, you can begin accelerating out of the corner when you're only half-way through it, in a sense. The exit speed of a good drift is something to behold. This doesn't even get into drift blocking. How do you pass someone who's drifting? You have to drift yourself. It forces the person behind you to play by your rules. It also allows you to forcibly pass someone by wedging your front-end in front of them on the outside of a corner. If any of this is confusing I'd be happy to demonstrate with demos. Let me know.

Grip racing is faster MOST of the time..though there are some instances where drifting is faster. If you watch Rally drivers race on tarmac, they grip most of the time, but there are corners that are faster to drift...like hairpins etc.

thanx for your replies....in case you wondered i am talking about seattle city...this is the only course me and my bro race at cos we both like it...

could someone explain then wot an inertia drift is?...surely if your abolutely amazing at driving....and could do an inertia drift like everytime there was a hairpin...you would be faster?....so what is faster then? drifting or grip racing?

me and me bro always play seattle city long course, 15 laps, no tire damage no car damage

how do you play in diffrent places? the only place i can play 2 player is the tracks they give on the arcade mode (super speedway, trial mountain, swiss alps...etc).

this sucks, its lke everyone can play every palce they want except for me. someone fill me in please

hey inertia is usually started from a fient drift which u slid ur cars rear out and quickly reswurve back creating the drift into the turn. at that point u must be side ways. going side ways u use the sliding of the car to slow down instead of using the brakes. hey i know, maybe if me n night_drifter make a demo drift video. I know that stuff i said doesnt make scence.

well make a drift demo video.

laterz

thax...i saw your last video and realised how crap i was !....

anyway i should say that im playing GT2 and not GT3 but ther is not GT2 drift forum so.....

i was also wondering how different they are....is it easier to drift on GT3 than GT2?

i found gt2 VERY easy to drift in in my favorite car...S4!!!! Gt3 got harder with driftin to me personally BUT i wudnt want it any other way

hey this is what i do to drift in GT2. i put on sports tires.
than power over like crazy till it starts a drift than control it. try using the sil-eighty or silvias.

why dont u try the ff drift. have front medium or hard. rear has to be a lower grip than the front.

now press e-brake till it slide and when it starts to go side ways tap the e-brake to control the drift.

practice makes perfect.

but i wanna drift using a brake not a handbrake cos its slower that way isn't it?....and also it makes me look like a idiot

also i look on the settings fo drifintg on the settings page...i drive a mazda RX7 rs and im playing gt2 but the settings are for GT3...is that ok? i mean i tryed it out and the steering was sooooo sensitive is that how its supposed to be? i wheelspun loads but thats cosn im crap
