So, ive been at this all day. I cannot do it for the life of me.

Ive got an RX7 FD R-S and even doing consistent 1:00.5 or so laps with a 1:01 out lap i cant catch that damn skyline.

Any hints and tips? I noticed the youtube vid is in a spirit R, is it much better? Also, how do you get hold of one?

I am also tearing my hair out. I beat this the first time I tried it with the 500 cr exhaust upgrade only running a 8:05 something. Now I'm trying it in a different game and can't beat 8:14 even though I've added LSD. Grrr.

I hate to tune it when I KNOW it can win nearly stock, but time is running out on this one (unless they extend it past 1/5).

Edit: Wait we must be talking about different races... I'm talking about the third race in the 1st seasonal bunch.

i Tried the RX7 seasonal (Bonus Event: 2).

I got 2nd, but was farily far away from the midnight purple skyline. I think you need the older generation rx7 to get 1st.

The restrictions are 394hp and 800kg.

The modern Rx7's will only get to 1050 or so after all weight reductions. I'd like to find the older rx7, get it to 800kg then juice it to 390ish hp and see the difference.

yeah bigjoe, different event we are talking about i think!

this is the event - i think the guy is a member on here:

He did it in an FD, but i can never get anywhere near close enough at the last hairpin to overtake the skyline. Does anyone know what the specs are and if its worth doing in an FC? (The older RX7)

I used the most expensive RX7 available in the Premium Dealership.
Then I tuned it to exactly meet the regulations.
Won it on the last lap.
The RX7 handles good like I expect it to.
An enjoyable but hard race.

I used the Spirit R you buy from new dealer. Can't remember what I did to get 394 but it's at about 1050kg.Will look after Bob finishes Dream Champ.Go into practice and drive around the track looking for the green pavement. It's on turn 3.You can cut it there and gain alot.Make sure you put a wing on.

It seems like it is all about suspension tuning and/or TCS.
The guy in the video you posted has modified suspension settings.

His car looks likes its on rails compared to mine.

Most everyone has used either of the two newer RX-7's

Good luck!

Ditto. I used an FD from the used market too, my friend is trying it and said he switched to the one sold at the mazda dealership (i didnt even bother to check, i didnt think there would be one!) and instantly shaved over a second off his time.

I'm about 0.4s a lap off the pace at the moment so ill give it a try with the premium car and we will see how i get on.

I bought the newest possible RX7 and did it with my second try, i got mostly 1:00 with a few 59:5 times in there. Not too difficult IMO.

I'm pretty sure doing one minute laps should have you catching the Skyline on the last lap?? I feel like I did a few one minute laps and caught the Skyline somewhere in the early part of lap 10. You can always turn SRF on, but I don't think you gain all that much time at Tsukuba with it.

I catch him, but im always just a little too far behind to dive past him on the last lap. I think my closest finish was 1.9 second behind him at the finish line, but i gained a LOT at the exit of the last turn.

Im going to try with the spirit R tomorrow as its supposedly much better!

Sorry for the double post but this is the tune I used which was made by Jbrennan

Mods:
All weight reduction: Stage 3, window, hood
Chassis Reinforcement
ECU, Stage 3 engine tune
Sports Intake Manifold
Sports Exhaust Manifold
Sports Catalytic Converter
Sports Exhaust
Custom Transmission
Twin-plate clutch
Semi-racing flywheel
Adjustable LSD
Carbon driveshaft
Custom Suspension

Settings:
Aero : 0 (didn't realize the car came with aero kit, so didn't touch it)
Transmission: top speed 240 km/h (about 149 MPH?)
LSD : 40/60/5
Brakes : default (5/5)

Suspension settings:
Ride Height : -10 / -10
Spring Rate : 12.6 / 9.5
Dampers (E) : 5 / 6
Dampers (C) : 5 / 6
Anti-Roll Bars : 3 / 4
Camber : 2.5 / 1.5
Toe : 0.00 / 0.10

Also I think alot of people use skid recovery for this one.

I used the Bathurst model I think. Ill share my tune for it. Can run consistent 1.00 laps with Skid recovery on but lose 0.5 or so without it.

You could try setting TCS=1 to help out with the corner exit until you've nailed it and then turn it off.

if you're running consistent 1 minute laps, I don't see why you can't catch him. I think if you run a 10 minute, 8 seconds race (which I ran I think), you should win it.

With Skid Recovery Force "on", you can take 1st spot before the lap 9.

Without SRF it is the most difficult challenge in history of GT series.

2 weeks in practice and I still can't come to GT-R closer than 3.5 sec.
