Okie dokie folks...
i'm new to drifting in gran turismo 4, since it is a video game, I'm not exactly that skilled with a controller but i do try my best ^_^
anyways...

I recently began buying the Silvias(13,14,15) and now have three:
Silvia S13 Q's
I bought this because its the no wing low powered version and I assumed it would be alot funner to drift and drive with but i'm having quite a hard time bringing it up to speed and keeping it steady through the drifts without making it look like its having a seizure halfway through the turn. any advice besides settings?

Silvia S14 K's Aero
I bought this after I got good with my Sileighty '98 on some of the popular drifting courses here on GTP and I have used it in games like initial D where there is no skill involved. Anyhoo, I bought the thing and ran it stock with N2's and no aids cept for 2 on ASM understeer since i'm not what you would call "swell" at drifting.
anyway, I havent used the given settings but my friend who has says they dont work, his technique is pretty good so im wondering if theres a hidden problem or something. lastly:

Silvia S15 spec R
This thing is a monster with the body of the varrietta. I bought this two days ago so maybe im just REALLY impatient(i am >.<) but I ran it with N2's and ASM understeer on 5 and its good, but doesnt give me any tire smoke. I tap e-brake to sometimes initiate the drift while doing lift off after feint(i use almost every technique you guys said) and it drifts but doesnt burn rubber and/or make smoke. Call me picky but i like big huge burnouts when drifting. any thoughts and or help?

Try taking all that asm OFF i find that it cuts in and screws up the momentum...I don't know how it regulates i.e. brakin wheels maybe...but with it OFF your cars should slide....er....glide a little more freely...keiichi says in the s13....mind you this is real life....that ebrake is your friend....so try it out! good luck happy driftin! Dking says Drift it if you got it...if you dun....u crash

id say dont use the ebrake. just learn to be steady with the controller.

=0) i didnt realize he was on ds2...oops....but if you are understeerin too much yank it =0) the REAL drift king pulls it....saw in drift bible..check out my ebrake thread....

I'd say there's nothing wrong with using E-brake to start your drifts, it does helps a lot for beginners, but just don't rely too much on it, that'll be ok :)

p/s: since you're using DS2 controller, it might be a tad bit hard for making smooth steering works, which is essential in GT4 drifting, do try to practise hard on that :)

If you're having trouble keeping the tires spinning throughout the whole drift, you might want to add just a bit more power. Try throwing on a racing exhaust and/or chip and see if you feel more comfortable.

I think, if you want to get smoke, you have to stay in the throttle more. Learn how to use the right amount of countersteer first though. I know what its like, cause I use to use a DS2 also. But now I bought my friends DF.

being smooth with the ds2 is very hard, i know that. but i used the ds2 in 90% of my gt3 drift time, and i became very smooth with it towards the end.
then i got a dfp. so i rarely use the ds2. but i just say pratice pratice pratice!! thats the only way your going to get anywhere. dont be afraid to try different things out sometimes.

Gt3 driftin was a joke compared to gt4 my 2 cents

i would also recommend this a bunch...just a simple rubber band and your countersteering and feinting become much easier just tried it 2 days ago and it really works. i didnt bother with the gas bc i much prefer X button. for more referneces i got this from the ds2 drifter thread. just wrap the band around the stick go under the controller and then around the stick again...then adjust the band all the way around to make the stick centered.
