Each entrant must use a different type of s2000 for each race

Example
R1 Spoon S2000
R2 Mugen S2000
R3 Honda S2000

Ok sounds like fun.
But can we start doing them all 4 in once or is it one by one?

sports tires on a 5 lap tire wear race? I think you may wanna give us a little harder tire compound for at least that race, cuz on sports tires you'll have to pit after the first lap. haha

In testing with sport tyres they lasted between 6 and 7 laps on a spoon S2000 haven't tried it with the other cars as of yet..i'll check it again though with a mugen modded to the series specification.....maybe i'm just good on my tyres ;)

If you think racing on the sports tyres with tyre wear is tricky i've some how got involved in a series that currently involves racing a denso sard supra fitted with sim tyres over a 5 lap race with tyre wear

Quattro this is just an interest check /sign up thread....a new thread will be posted for each individual race when it is run...hopefully the first race will start soon just need two or three more drivers and then we are good to go :)

i think this sounds great but i dont really understand how is the machanikal 4 this challeneg so i wanna b in, but the method is weekly race the car conytions posted by Graveltrap and the situation 4 the challeneg posted in the firsth tread?

if thats all im in!

Hi Lacrema

Lets see if I can explain this a bit better.

This short series is run independantly of the weekly race series, a thread will be started in the short series forum when racing begins (a link will be placed in this thread) . Each race will be run individually over a time period....most probably a week (sunday to sunday).

As for the cars pick one of the four S2000's on offer. Fit the parts as specified in the first post.

You then have to decide how you are going to get as close to 300bhp as possible for your car (example for the Mugen S2000, oil change, Na tune stage 1, Sports rom, engine balance =299bhp). The engine parts you are going to fit need to be submitted, so that the car can pass scrutineering and be allowed to race.

Minimum weight requirement can be meet by purchasing stage 1 and stage 2 light weight modification (mugen & honda s2000 = 1103kg, V-type = 1123kg, spoon s2000 already weighs 1100kg). The idea of the weight restriction is to make the cars as evenly matched as possible.

You now have your car. This is the type of car that will be raced by you for the whole series. (you can use a brand new car for each race but it must be of the same type as you have used previously)

Hope this makes things a little clearer ;)

Note to all: I've been thinking about letting the V-type be run in after the start of the series to allow for the extra weight its carrying but i need to check the impact that this will have on power to weight ratios.

As previously stated rounds are subject to change those posted give you an idea of what i'm planning but they may or may not be part of the series ;)

Just to check interested drivers ( I would really like 2 more and were good to race)

The results of this race are going to be heavily biased to the Mugen btw :D

the cars are currently under test..amendments may be made to the max power requirements for each car. currently all cars are within 0.5s of each other at apricot hill...further testing does need to be carried out.....

To make the series a little more competitive it has been decided that each entrant must use a different type of s2000 for each race

Example
R1 Spoon S2000
R2 Mugen S2000
R3 Honda S2000
R4 S2000 Type V

To add a small element of stratagy it is up to the driver to decide which car they enter for each round.

New max hp limit of 302 bhp has been anounced this brings all the cars to within 1 bhp of each other.

Example engines.

Spoon S2000 needs just a port polish to get to the horse power limit =
302bhp @ 9000rpm P/W 3.642

Mugen/Honda S2000 can be fitted with Muffler sports N/a tune stage 1 & have the engine balanced =
302 bhp @ 8200rpm P/W 3.652

S2000 type V Can be fitted with Muffler sports, NA tune stage 1 and have its ports polished =
301bhp @ 8100rpm P/W 3.642

due to its weight disadvantage the type V can be run in during the course of a race = 309bhp @ 8100rpm P/W = 3.627

Some performance testing of the short series cars has been carried out at the test course the results are as follows

0-400m
Spoon S2000 13.302
Mugen S2000 13.123
Honda S2000 13.422
S2000 Type V 13.398

0-1000m
Spoon S2000 23.907
Mugen S2000 23.666
Honda S2000 24.132
S2000 Type V 24.022

Max Speed
Spoon S2000 292.4km/h
Mugen S2000 284.3km/h
Honda S2000 287.1km/h
S2000 Type V 287.1km/h

sorry about the change in the rules guys thought it was neccesary so that all of the different type's of s2000 are raced....at least it adds a little bit of stratagy to the series ;)

I can also confirm that the sport tyres will last a 5 lap race (tested using a PAL system)

As it would be good to have a couple more racers I'll leave the sign up open for another week and then the series will be run. ;)

Ok, so just so i get this straight...say i pick the spoon s2000 for round 1, no one else could pick that car? And for round 2, would i have to pick a different car since i already used the spoon? or could i go w/ the same car for every round?

If you pick the spoon for round 1 another driver can also use it for that race. Once the spoon has been used by a driver they may not race it again in the series (you must use a different type of S2000 for each race). This is basically because the mugen has a bit of a performance advantage (when I use it i'm generally quicker in it than say the spoon).

I thought this would tighten up the series a little.

I like the concept, except for the standing start to sector 2 of Midfield. That leaves out the true "make or break" corner of the track.
I have much to do today, but I will TRY to get to it.
I may have to win some extra S2000's for it too.

Nice one Gil hope you can race the series isn't going to start till next weekend...giving people a chance to win the required cars.

The sprint at Midfield II may well be changed for the actual series....I thought that the track up to sector two had a nice varied selection of corners...out of interest which corner do think is the challanging one??

ahh, thanks for clearing that up gravel, that what i thought it meant after i read it a couple more times, but i wasnt quite sure

Actually, I was running it in my mind frontwards. The corner in question is the one coming out of the tunnel on Midfield II.
MY BAD.
Going backwards that corner is even more of a PIA.

Roll up to the pole position grid slot, in bonnet cam view apply brakes when the white line at the front of the grid slot is just disappearing from the screen. Apply hand brake. Rev engine to required launch rpm and release the hand brake. easy;)

Thought i'd better clarify this.

Don't forget Miata, or just overlook me. Fine, I didn't want to stomp you guys anyways

I have run a similar challenge in the past. I have found that you can get the exact same HP out of the S2000 with the figure of 373HP. However, the Mugen is still going to be the "standout" performer.(IMHO)
For Kicks and giggles I'm going to see how close the (sorry, weak, pathetic) Spoon Racecar can get to the 302 HP limit)

Thread for round 1 is here

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/t-27542.html

Sorry for the weedy hp limit gil ;)

The Spoon S2000 race car produces somewhere around 278 bhp in standard trim this goes up to around 355hp if any ones interested an extra round can be added for just this car at maximum hp on slicks probably a ten lap race with tyre wear. I'd have to run a couple of tests to find a suitable race for it to be competitive in (pro level).

Mistake corrected in engine spec for the Spoon S2000 (Sports ROM removed)

Is anyone bothering to have a go at this??

I havent yet :O was planning on tho. I almost had a go last night but after 10 laps of complex string w/ the 'yoter race car my thumbs couldnt take anymore. You should pm everyone thats registered and give em a kick-in-the-ass reminder

I bailed on you to go on vacation to visit my mom.
Only go a short run on something else I'm working on before I gave the PS2 back to the kids. Now I'll prolly have to wait for tomorrow EARLY to get another shot at it.

This series has now been binned!!
