I’m planning to run the Audi TT professional race tonight. This win will give me the Audi S4. I was then planning on modding it up, and racing it through the rally courses.

My question is should I run the S4, the TT Quattro, or race the Dream car championship and pick up the Impreza LM to blow out the competition?

Side bar:
I a huge fan of rally racing, and fully enjoy it, but it’s almost like racing through the beginner section again. The section seems to have been an after thought by PD. I’m not that happy about it. I would have rather seen 15 more road cars, and 4 more road tracks. But…I digress.

Thanks,
AO

Of those I'd been inclined to go for the Impreza - the S4 is very powerful but heavy, and the TT is a dud.

OK, stupid question time:
:dunce:
What does LM stand for? Are those the Le Mans-style race cars? TIA...

Yeah, we think so - the cars won in the Dream Car championship, the Impreza, FTO and RX7 LM race cars aren't actually cars - I'm inclined to think they're inspired by the Le Mans versions of the Supra and GT-R that ran at Le Mans 5 years ago or so.

Oh, so it wasn't a stupid question then... thanks for the explanation.
You can't buy these, correct? So I'll have to wait until I win one to really see it. What's the wisdom on which one is best?

I'm disappointed to hear about the rally section. I'm a huge WRC fan as well, and I was looking forward to it. I really need to up my license to S and R, I guess.

Most of the voting for the LM race cars seems to centre around the FTO and the RX7. I've hardly driven the RX7, but the Impreza is good and the FTO is fantastic - both deliver a just under 1000hp with full turbo tuning, and are 4WD. I've run my full spec FTO around the Complex String in under 4 minutes, so it's seriously quick.

The rally sections are a little bit of an afterthought, but the actual driving model and physics are superb, especially with the Logitech wheel - it's just a shame the tracks are limited, and there's only two cars on the track at a time. I would rate the gravel experience as superior to the WRC game's gravel - the thing that ticks me is the old 'invisible wall' - to me, part of the point of rally games is going off and hitting 'stuff', like trees, rocks, houses, plunging off cliffs and the like.

Last night I started in on the rally tracks. Realized again why I have a serious dislike for Tahiti Maze. Made a quick attempt with the TT, and realized I'd have to sepnd some serious cash to make it competitve. Knew that I'd have to do the same with the S4.

So...I jumped in the Mine's Skyline, slapped on the dirt tires, dropped the ASM & TCS to nil, jacked the suspension to high, softened the suspension and went for it.

I'll knock more of it out tonight.

I used to think that too, but I have a video of an Impreza competing in the GT300 class of JGTC...

My advice is to do the Rally championship with a modified road-going Lancer. Much better than the Rally Cars.

Yeah, that was my plan, too. I have a quick Evo VI that will beat the rally cars on pavement. I may use it, but I also won a stock Evo VII that I will probably build up for rally use instead, so I don't have to change settings over and over.

Giles, what's "JGTC" ?

Japanese gran touring circuit?
Japanese Gran touring championship?

I thought about boosting the Evo up to run the Rally courses, but had the skyline already ready. Blow 22,750cr on tires and whopped it up.

Nailed down tahiti circuit and 2 of 3 on the tahiti maze.

Heh. Now that's a plan. I also have a stock R32 Skyline. Maybe I'll crank that up for track use, and convert the old Lancer to rally... but I'm so dang comfortable in the Lancer I don't want to rock the boat! Besides, the other Evo is bright yellow and would look awesome in the dirt.
On a totally unrelated note, I stopped in the local Mitsu dealer to ask about the upcoming US-version Evo. They'll start taking waiting list names in December. But the salesguy said to expect a $28,000 price tag, so fergit it. I'll be able to get a Neon SRT at the same time for about $8000 less.
:thumbsdow

That would be this one?

True, but you'll find the spec of that car is quite different to that of the one in the Dream Car championship - for a start, it's rear drive, not 4wd (or AWD, to use Subaru parlance), and not as powerful. Also the JGTC car is a two door, while the Dream Car Championship car is a four door.

Spec for the JGTC car, from the website is:
Machine Name : CUSCO SUBARU IMPREZA
