OMG IT'S BACKFIRE!

 It's a pity I caught crappy footage of DOCILE backfiring... (Mitsi Evo 3 - 9.54 1/4mile - hoping to drop into 8's and take the 4wd 4cyl record) .. it makes your heart skip a beat :D

Nice (both vids),

Amazing how quick it bounced off limiter (first vid) , Thats what I would like to see in GT4!

For some reason, the first video don't have sound. At least not for me... Maybe some codec problem or whatever.

The backfiring is due to a 2 or 3-step or what is commonly referred to as a 'stutter box'. ( it's also available on some stand-alone ems' ) Basically it limits how high the vehicle can rev. In this case you see the 'launch step' being used.

In short, the motor bouncing off a preset rpm point puts load on the engine and in return spools up the turbo or turbos. The result is a vehicle that leaves with positive boost pressure rather than falling flat on its face while the turbo takes time to spool.

It is hilarious to roll up on an unsuspecting v8 owner and hit your stutter box. Especially if you have an open downpipe!!

No, its a rev limiter where you can hold the throttle flat for a positive boost launch. (or for whatever other reason)

LMAO I would pi#$ my pants laughing if I saw that in person. Then I would walk over with some hot dogs and marshmellos.

I am amazed at how much power you kids can squeeze out these little motors today! Engineering has come a long way, but I hate that sound when people just hold to the floor. You can lift a little and keep it just above the limiter, when it launches then put your foot through the floor board! Also that launch showed me that you won't be driving that car at rush hour! He was wide open and still loaded up, but when it hacked up that crap then it sounded good! My two favorite sounding motors are the 4 Valve Mod Motors in Mustangs and my little 2000cc with Side Drafts at full throttle. But a good old American Big Block with a lumpy cam and open headers makes me proud to be American, maybe went to far there! But once in a while you'll hear one coming and I will stop what i'm doing.
