Saab tuning goodies
Saab is offering a range of performance upgrades for 9-3 and 9-5 models.

Hirsch Performance AG of Switzerland has been appointed an official supplier of tuning goodies including styling, handling and performance accessories.

The extras are available through the Saab dealership network with full approval and will not affect the manufacturer's warranty.

Engine options include a 45bhp power hike for the 9-3 1.8t engine - raising the output to 195bhp.

The 9-3 2.0 HOT Aero goes even further with 230bhp or 252bhp upgrades, while the 9-5 can be tuned to the right side of 300bhp.

A number of styling options are also available, including bumpers, spoilers and a range of alloy wheels. Interior options include a leather-covered instrument panel and aluminium racing style pedals.

Hirsch Performance also offers brake upgrades for improved stopping power - at speeds of 62mph, stopping time is reduced to just 2.7 seconds.

There are a lot of automotive companies that do this. You can buy a slew of goodies from GM for pretty much any vehicle, and next year they are going to offer Stage 1 and 2 kits for the Cobalt/Ion line. You can also buy a slew of parts from GM Performance, that are all under factory warrenty. I know you can do the same through VW and Audi, Ford does something like that, and I'm sure Chysler has something like that.

Toyota Racing Development will sell you a supercharger for just about anything.

Back in the day, Mopar Performance (when it was known as Direct Connection) had in their catalog a DOHC crossflow cylinder head for the 2.2L Turbo. They debuted the kit in the PPG Interceptor concept car, which made its fame as the star car in the Charlie Sheen movie "The Wraith".
