Same car, different gear ratios?

I was trying to tune a car to have a really long 1st gear.

I maxed the bottom speed setting (mph), then lowered the final gear to its lowest then lowered 1st gear to its lowest

I compared it to the same car my friend sent me and his 1st gear is still lower(by a lot) then mine.

Is there a process to doing this? Am i doing it wrong?

Or can same cars possible have different ratios?
 
Maybe your car has more performance parts than his? I've noticed that if you put more performance parts on the car, the gear ratios actually go up a bit.
 
Adjust final gear, then adjust top speed. Keep doing so and you can get any crazy gear combination you want.
