So i was in my local electrical store (comet) and wow i cannot believe the picture quality !!

Never seen anything like it in my life !! I thought my BRAVIA was amazing as well.

Anyone else seen these new tv's from samsung, link to the 32" version - http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/540846/SAMSUNG-UE32B6000WWXXU/tab/specification

Anyway, I have a question, should i spend the £1000 on a 32" Led TV with thee best picture quality I have ever seen or a 50" 1080p Samsung plasma for my livingroom?

How far away from the TV will you be sitting? The best looking 32" won't fit the bill if it's too far away as you won't be able to see that glorious clarity anyway.

Plasma TV's are great for "home theatre" environments where the room lighting can be controlled (such as a basement rec room). However, in a bright sunlit room, the plasma color will wash out a bit. The LCD is a much brighter screen by nature and is not so influenced by bright light sources in a room.

LEDs are a newer technology and have the benefits that are associated with their LCD brethern.

Also, in spite of what the plasma manufacturers claim, "burn-in" is still an issue with that technology although not nearly to the extent that it used to be. Any image left in one place on the screen can eventually become permanently "etched" in place. Although I'm sure many people use plasma tv's for gaming without difficulty, my opinion is that the LCD & LED are more suited to gaming.

Well i have a 40" BRAVIA at the moment in my livingroom but nothing in the bedroom so i thought:

Keep the BRAVIA in there and buy the 32" samsung for the room

or

Buy the 50" Samsung and put the BRAVIA in the bedroom!

I wouldn't spend 1000gbp on any 32" TV. I got my 46" plasma for $1300... almost half of list price. Do you have a "shopping day" equivalent to Black Friday here in the states? That's the only time to get a TV.

The technolgy is too new. Wait a year or so. It's not usually a good idea to jump on the bandwagon so early.

Furthermore, don't buy a Plasma. As others have mentioned, there is still a problem with burn-in (which is why they are generally much cheaper than LCD's) I would go with a 120hz LCD Samsung. You'll be able to get a much bigger screen than 32", and at a much better price to boot.

I own a Samsung 120hz 42" 1080p LCD and it's incredible. I also own a 52" Sharp Aquos 1080p LCD, and while it does look amazing, it's not quite as good as my Samsung.

I have owned 2 plasmas in the last 4 years. The first one I bought 4 years ago, there was a problem with burn in. Now though with my 1 year old panasonic, I have left things paused on the screen over night before, and the next day there was no sign of burn in. I'm not saying it won't happen, but it's really not something that should keep you from buying a tv, unless you want to leave it paused for days on end.

I still have yet to see an lcd or projector that has the picture quality of the panasonic plasmas. Plus there just so much cheaper then the lcd equivalent.

I bought my 50 inch, 1080p panny plasma last year for 1900$. The closest lcd in the store to it was over 3000$. Consumer reports also said that it was the best flat panel display they had ever tested. In all honesty I don't know why lcd screens won the war. Plasma's are cheaper and have a better picture. I tend to keep my room dark though, so I guess an lcd would be better in brightly lit rooms.

I actually have 2 lcd's in my camper because of the light issue. My camper is much brighter then the viewing room in my house.

As far as burn in goes though, I have never had any problem at all with my newer one. I have played games for hours on end with it. Shooters have never left a burn from the aiming cursor, or adventure game with the health meter. Some tv's may still have issues, but really panasonic is your only option when buying plasma anymore, and they are the best anyway. I would surely take a plasma over lcd in a dimly lit room any day, but I would take an lcd in a brighter room. It's just like speakers, it all depends on your room and tastes.

I disagree. I have a Pioneer plasma and burn-in has never been a problem with plenty of game playing. When was the last time you heard of burn-in on a plasma in the last three years? (without misuse of course.)

Plasma displays are cheaper as they are an older technology than big screen LCD's.

I have 2 friends with Plasmas, both are less than a year old. They have both experienced burn in. SO, you may think it is a problem of the past, and you may have a very nice plasma. However, it is still an issue with most Plasmas, hence why they are being slowly phased out of production. They are cheaper than LCD's because of many different reasons.

The shop I used to work in had GT5: Prologue on demo on a Plasma screen, and after only a few months the HUD was burned in to the screen. Now I know that was switched on all day long, but it only happened after a few months so if you played a lot of one game it could still happen.
