As most people probably know buy now Rockstar games have signed up with Interscope records for the San Andreas Soundtrack.
So when searching the interscope records website, I came across a list of the artists that are signed with interscope records, or that interscope or there partner companies owns the rights to.
Then i thought it would be good to check out which of these artists that are signed, were around in the early 90's, so i came up with this list.

Note: Artists marked with a (*) im not sure if they existed in the early 90's so correct me if im wrong.

2pac,
Marylin manson*,
Nine Inch Nails,
U2,
Dr Dre,
Bryan Adams,
Sheryl Crow*,
Sting,
Beck*,
Bloodhound gang*,
Nirvana,
Counting Crows*,
Dj Lethal*,
Peter Gabriel,
Guns & Roses,
Sonic youth* and weezer*.

These could be some of the bands in the game. But non of this is confirmed.
Also some of these artists may own the rights to other things i.e Dr Dre may own some rights to NWA.

Sheryl Crow, Counting Crows definitely did...

I'm pretty sure Marilyn Manson did too...

Weezer didn't.

I think I read on a GTA forum somewhere that NIN was going to be in the SA soundtrack. I can't remember where though...

Soundtrack hasn't been touched on by Rockstar, not even when they were playing with that magazine. So noone would actually know.

Well, when you're on the Rockstar San Andreas website, you can have Street Sounds on. You can hear some music playing in the background, I think 3 different songs are played. One of them is from the "Welcome to Los Santos" trailer. Maybe someone could recogninse or find out what these songs are, I know I can't, I'm not into that sort of music.

He could but acording to Interscopes website he and manson are signed to them.
Well, I just read up a bit of info. Basically, Nothing Records (Reznor's label) is a subsidiary of Interscope. Reznor left his old label and went to Interscope who helped him set up his own label. While he gets free reign over which artists get signed and so-forth, it's still owned by Interscope. So there's a good chance NIN and Manson will be on there (I sure hope so anyway, being a huge NIN fan if you couldn't tell from my avatar). 👍

Beck was around in the early 90's

seriously, with the exception of Beck, nine inch nails, guns and roses, sonic youth and bloodhound gang, the lineup sounds a bit...bad. i dont wanna run people over while listening to sheryl crow

I could run over people to GnR, NIN and Manson any day. Although, if a PC version ever gets released, I admit I'll be using the MP3 Player instead...

GnR would be fine (they have Welcome to the Jungle, my equal favourite song of theirs). But they have a lot of (c)rap (my opinion) on there, so I'll be hoping for some good music. Otherwise it's the Chat Station/s for me most of the time.

Was thinking back to the original Grand Theft Auto the other day and remembered the black jeep. When you got into the car you could hear music playing from the car. I think they should include the option to be able to turn the volume up when driving along. Obviously the louder you play the music the more people that turn around and notice you, thus making you more notorious. Maybe you could even go into CD shops and pick up your favourites tunes, and choose what you wanna listen to when your cruisin. Just an idea.

Hope they include Boyz n The Hood by Eazy-E. That song puts me in the mood for GTA.

I never thought of the hearing music outside of the car thing. I hope that's in the game.

But, I've always wanted to be able to Turn Up the Radio" while I'm driving. Lol. Really I have.

I really hope they include it. Maybe you could mod yours cars sounds to give you more bass. Small details make the big differences. I want TV's in my car.

Yeah and the software would automatically adjusts the equalizer to match.

Also on another note all of those songs are interscope songs or songs from artists who are signed to interscope subsidiary companies, im definately sure there will be more than just interscope songs though.
I think R* would have bought the rights to alot of music for Vise city that didnt make it to vice because of the timeframe and era, so they could be apropriate to the San Andreas era.
Plus I loved that chat radio stations in the previous games, i.e Chatterbox and VCPR etc. So im hoping they bring them back in a big way, so if the soundrack does suck ( which im pretty sure that it won't) im sure the chat stations will kick ass!.

Considering that the game is set in 1991/92 and Interscope done a deal with R* for the soundtrack, isn't it obvous that Nirvana (Geffen<Interscope) will be on the soundtrack?

I can imagine them on Lazlow's rock station alongside Guns'n'Roses.

Good spotting! I remember seeing Nirvana on the interscope site must have forgot to add it into my list my bad.
Yeah if there is a Lazlow rock station a la Vrock that'll be sweet!.

Lazlow got kicked of the Rock Station. I say that he will be on Chatterbox, because: This is Lazlow on Chatterbox, because I got kicked off the Rock Station. And he got kicked off at the end of V-Rock on the Official Soundtrack. They won't leave him out, so I say Chatterbox. (This guess was also from Blake).

I hope the Chat Stations are a little better than VCPR and K-Chat. They were both too childish for me. Especially VCPR.

Too much of a distraction, too hard to do, and just plain 👎 I think. TVs in your safe house will be better, and more possible.

R32GTST/M -- You make some good points. I was going to say that they won't be confined to Interscope. GnR aren't with Interscope I'm sure, so there you have it right there.

Think I may have have got a bit carried away with the TV thing, but I love attention to detail. Wonder if they will include nightclubs aswell with maybe some famous people performing. Imagine two gangs kicking off in the middle of a club with bottles and chairs being thrown everywhere. That'd be nice.

I like the CD store idea. Maybe they could incorporate the PS2 harddrive into it somehow. You'd take some MP3s from your computer and put them on the PS2 HDD, go into a CD store and you can there buy those tunes for use in your car... or something.

One addition I'd love to see though is a portable FM radio, so you can listen to radio stations outside of the car. Nothing pisses me off more than rolling the car when one of my favourite tracks is playing.

If they do a 90's rock station they cant leave out Greenday...hopefully they cant anyway. I hope they do have Lazlow. He's very funny in both Vice City and GTA3. Im hoping they have more rock than rap and hip hop or whatever they like to call it. I will probably stick to the chat stations though.....most are funny.

What, like Scarface? That would be great. They had a nightclub in Vice City, but I want a more interactive one. Like people eating, more music, people that get up to dance, and sit back down later, more than one show on the main stage, etc.

The CD store would be great, too. I've thought of it, but it wouldn't phase me that much.

Lazlow will be back. He has confirmed this himdself. I already mentioned either in this thread or the New Details About San Andreas thread, that I believe he will be back on Chatterbox. And I've explained why. Also, I think there will be more than one Rap station. But I want more than one Rock/Metal station. At least they have GnR. But it will be mostly Punk or something that I'm not into, so I will end up listening to whatever Lazlow is on.

Yeah i was thinking about the whole Lazlow thing and maybe he could be on a completely different radion station. If you think about it Chatterbox was based in Liberty City, so unless "love media" spreaded to San Andreas then its probably a different station. Maybe another Rock station cause it does'nt exactly say which rock station he was kicked of.

Maybe. But if you listened, Chatterbox is a Love Media Station, which broadcasts across to some ridiculous amount of countries all over the world. So who knows. But I think Chatterbox is a definite possibility. But good point about the Rock Station. 👍

Yup, I'd love a walkman in the game. I hate having to go on long rampages outside my car with no music to listen to.
