My boss just bought it and we have been listening to it at work. Everyone here can run off of his receiver by tuning into his radio station. He can take the face from his deck into his car, at work, and at home. 100% Commercial free and completely uncensored. Over 100 stations to choose from ranging from comedy channels, rap, metal, classical, jazz, blues. Just about any music or entertainment. It reminds me of listening to the radio stations in Grand Theft Auto. The DJ's literally say whatever they want on certain stations.

Just wondering if anyone else has this? If you travel a lot and like music then this is the ultimate. The station wont change anywhere you go. Unlike local stations that loose connection after about 100 miles of their tower.
This isnt something I would be interrested in because I dont travel much, but for some of you that travel a lot this could be a good investment.

Speaking of investments, I own XM Satellite Radio. :dopey:

... a fraction anyway... :guilty:

I have yet to subscribe, however, the stereo I have in my car is "XM ready".

XM Satellite = GOOD! :D
Sirius = BAD! 👎

I second that. :) I have XM, theres another thread a ways down the page dedicated to XM. For Sirius' sake hopefully stern will financially turn that company around but its a longshot...

Yep, I've had XM for a little over a year now. I love it, but the novely has worn off.

The only reason I wouldn't get it (well other than the cost) is that I already enjoy a public station which covers my whole area, does not suffer the normal "college radio screw ups" and play almost anything from jazz to heavy metal to rap. Other than that satelite sounds great.

I work at a Wal-Mart (for now...) in the electronics section. We have a display with both XM & Sirius. We mess with it all the time because listening to the stereos blare the top 40 drives us crazy. Anyways, I prefer XM over Sirius any day. Much more to pick from. They even have a death metal station which is cool because in the area I live in finding death metal cds in near impossible. I've seriously considered getting it myself.

I didn't like the idea of paying monthly fee for radio broadcast, but if there aren't any commercial breaks, I don't see a problem. 👍

Well, to be honest, XM will not last like Sirius, if I was to buy stock, it would be in Sirius...

Howard Stern, currently the most marketable and highest paid DJ in history, with a listening audience of over 8 million people on any given day, is moving to Sirius, getting paid $550'000'000.00 for a 5 year contract...anticipated he will bring a minimum of 1 million extra listeners...sirius will be the FM of Satelite radio, XM will be the AM....IMO

Ohhhh I didnt realize these were 2 different things. I guess I will keep this thread open. Howard stern is the primary reason my boss bought Sirius.

BAD NEWS...They did away with that station a month or two ago. 👎:grumpy: It was one of my favorite stations too.

TwinTurboJay, so youre saying Stern will single handedly turn Sirius around and pull it out of the toilet? They couldnt even afford to pay some of their employees on time, to the point where some of them left and went to work for XM, where they openly talked about it on the air. For their sake I hope their investment in Hoo Hoo Howie is worth it, that is if they can afford it.

Howard wanted to go to XM, but they didnt want to pay him that much $$. Its funny because there has been an XM promo that Howard did before he had the Sirius contract that has been running on XM the past few days. Im sure Sirius is REAL happy about that :D

Well, I do believe he will...even if he can bring 1/8 his audience, that kind of monthly subcriptions adds up very quickly. Also should bring more people on board, because as of now, he will be uncensored, which will make for some very interesting radio !

Im a fan of Howard as well, but more recently a fan of Opie & Anthony (on XM). I guess you could consider them an XM equilvalent of what Howard will be when he goes to Sirius. you know, the whole uncensored "shock jock" thing.

I agree with TwinTurboJay. Howard Sterns audience never leaves him once they are attached. I know several people that have recently started buying satallite radio JUST so they could listen to Howard when he switches over.
Almost our entire company have listened to Howard for over 3 years straight but it is very difficult to hear him thru regular local radio station.
He will have a dramatic effect on the sales of Satellite radio. If he goes to Sirius I am quite sure they will obtain a majority of the satellite audience. This is not a fact just an opinion.

I've heard alot about them, but I have never actually heard them. I don't know if I could make the switch, the whole stern cast kills me, esp. Artie Lang, that guy is funny as hell.

Not sure if you heard of these guysm but I listen to Don & Mike ( syndicated nationally, out of Washington ) they are damn funny, but the best is their supporting cast...anyway, they are one of the acts up for Howards place in free radio mornings...

I think you can have an online free trial of XM for 3 days or something at xmradio.com. If you do ever get the chance to listen to the show i suppose i should put a disclaimer: it is often very offensive for the sake of humor, making light of very serious topics (such as Don Geronimo backing over his puppy), etc... really just a bunch of a-holes but thats what they do and I cant stop listening.

Ive heard of Don and Mike being about 40 minutes from DC, not really a listener, in fact I havent listened to FM since I got XM last summer. I used to listen to the Junkies in the Morning out of baltimore I think??? or maybe DC?? I dont remember but they arent on the air here anymore, the whole station went under.

Don Geromino backing over his dog ???!! Thats nasty but funny, he's always talking about his three dogs, a german shepherd names Colonal Klink (clink ) and the two other small dogs...not sure...shows what a radio geek I am
