It's a bit of a shame, but Takuma Sato has given up hope of raising the cash to drive for Jordan, and has instead signed a 3-year test-and-reserve deal with BAR. He also has a specific option that gives him first call on JV's seat should Villeneuve leave, as he has been threatenting to do recently.
Sato has tested for BAR before, and it's a logical step for the team, because he can speak more clearly to Honda's engineers, being from the same land.
Like I say, it's a shame, because I think he'd turned a corner, and was going to get better and better in his second year in F1.
With Wilson confirmed at Minardi, that leaves only two seats open for 2003.
