I decided to post this in the rumble strip because downhill cars arent really "cars." But anyway, ever since I was little my dad has been into building sweet downhill cars aka crackerbox derby cars, for our local downhill race once a year. We are up to 3 cars since 96' and we have only been beaten 1 time. I dont race since I am too old, but I do go down the hill in the "pro" class just because its fun. This year, he built a knockoff of the So-Cal Belly Tank Lakester and it was the hit of the show, along with the winner of the precision wheel class. One of my cousins raced my old car, and another one raced in my sisters car from last year which was the winner last year. Hers some pics for your pleasure:

Looks like your dad does a damn fine job building these cars 👍

Indeed. I even made a poster board showing the build process for her new car. You can kinda see it in the picture. I have some more pics of other cars and other stuff that I will probably post tomorrow sometime.

Looks like fun. I know these races from watching American movies.

:)

Couple of funny stories from the race:
Every driver had to fill out a card with Name, age, school, years driving, favorite food, and team name. So the guy who was announcing, was reading my card to the people and when he got to age he did a double take, looked at me and said "are you really 20 years old?" I just looked at him, and pointed to the sticker on the side of the car that said "96' 97' 98' Open Class Champ."

Both times that I went down the hill, I stuffed one of my cousins into the back of the car with me. The second time I went, I took the older of them, and it took like 3 guys to push the car up the ramp. They were like, "Not only is he the oldest competitor, but he is also driving the heaviest car." All I could think was if you only knew.....

Wow, if only I had a garage. :(

Great stuff, looks like you all had a fun time.
:)

Those are pretty nice. With BSA pack 255, we made a downhill car once in one afternoon, and I got to race it cause I'm the heaviest. The brake was stuck though, so we lost..

We also made a offroad pushcar for Monster Jam, but I was sick, but then they gave me the car. Me and my friends raced it downhill in our 'hood. I felt the need to install a handbrake. Once we passed a cop, who was just like 'nice car. Be safe kids'. NY cops are nice.
I wish I got the chance to put an engine in it...

Nice, the scouts are actually the ones in charge of this race. The funny thing is , the guy who ran it before them, actually asked my dad to run it because he knows the rules like the back of his hand. He declined though because he didnt want to. Plus he needs time to build his cars 👍

Ay don't get any wrong impressions though... I was slightly overweight, but now I look normal-sized for a 6 footer but weigh 183 lbs.

Very nice cars 👍
