Save race feature details

Hi guys
I'm currently 12 hours into the Lemans 24 hour race.
I know how to save/suspend the race and bring it back.

But I have a question about starting the game up after a suspend.
Can you go to the main GT5 page instead of the race without loosing the race?
The reason is so I can verse some friends online, or collect the daily login reward.

NO as the update instructions said to do any thing else you must QUIT the endurance race.

but they have not stopped you from using the back up save option.
It just means you lose any progress done while online.

Back up GT5 save.
Load GT5.
Quit endurance.
Go online.
Quit GT5.
restore back up save.
Load GT5 continue endurance race...
