Hi!
Today when i saw that the 2.02 update was available I powered up my PS3 and installed it successfully. Then when the game started for the first time all the sudden it was giving me guides and tips about GT5 and asked me to configure some settings which I thought was odd. Then when I entered GT-Life it said 20,000 cr and zero cars. I tried everything, restarting both the game and the PS3 several times but nothing worked. Then when I looked in the saved games data folder on the PS3 itself it stood "Damaged data" where my GT5-file used to be. I have contacted GT5's support but haven't gotten any answer so I was wondering if anybody has any idea of how to fix this? I have driven for over a year, have(or had) lvl 37 A- and B-spec, over 500 cars, 9 million credits, completed almost every single event there is, with the exception of a few endurance races and I honestly don't believe that I will ever seriously play GT5 again unless I somehow get my saved data back again. I'm really thankful for all the ideas and tips you guys have, thanks.

Have you backed up your Game Save Data on a memory stick prior to the update?

And a question for everyone else: if you had backed up a save prior to the update, would it be loadable after the update? I know there were game save issues during Spec 2 release:sick:

No, I haven't. I have never before had any problems with anything like this and never heard of anybody else either.

Did you attach your save file in the message to the support, it might be a good idea. And does anybody know if there's there a difference between Damaged and Corrupted data?

There are plenty of threads on here from people with corrupted game saves. Personally, I lost about a months worth of driving last December when my PS3's hard drive crashed. I was not backing up my game saves at the time. I learned my lesson. My hard drive got corrupted back in June and I had to do a system restore, but was able to restore my games saves from my USB stick. I back up about once a week now.

Electronics die. Back up your junk! :)

No I didn't, but that was a good idea! When I first get a reply from support I will send it. Also my PS3 is in Swedish and I translated to English, perhaps the correct translation is Corrupted data and not Damaged data.

I know, and I do back-ups on all my other stuff, I just didn't think it was necessary on a PS3 - but obviously it was.

Have you tried the restore corrupt data in the options menu?

This happened to me a while ago. It was weird because I still had all of my photos but everything else had reset
