saved games don't include downloaded content

So it seems that the saved game doesn't save quite everything.
It saves the fact that you have a custom playlist for your music, and then you get an error if you restore to a different console.
It doesn't save your photos either.

Both of those I can understand and forgive, but not saving any downloaded cars is just wrong. Now lost my jag and two stealth cars. Haven't had a chance to see if I can redownload them from the ps store. But even if I do ill have to resplash the cash to upgrade them all again.
Maybe its to avoid cloning of purchases cars, I don't know. Be good if someone could confirm this behaviour and also if PD could say its a bug,

You should be able to redownload them, usually it saves your DLC to your PSN so you can always redownload.

However I bet you're probably screwed on any upgrades you may have done. :(
 
Yep. Don't worrt, DLC is account locked. You can redownload them at PlayStation Store. And they get reinstalled right away.
 
This didn't sound right so I backed up my save and tried it....all my pictures and DLC(chrome line and SLS Stealth) restored just fine without redownloading...
 
Yeah I freaked about this last night when I installed GT5 and loaded my saved game data from my PS3 and copied onto my brother in laws PS3 Slim.

I got all my DLC back but what SUCKS is that all of your DLC cars lose all of the tuning options you've done to them previously. It's basically brand new cars. No previous miles, times, switched, and how many wins for each car.

I was kind of pissed that I spent close to 5 million again re tuning all of my 2 stealth cars (F1 & SLS AMG) and all of my chrome cars from my collectors edition.
 
A small external USB drive (180GB's are pretty cheap now) and the Backup HD command to your PS3 should solve the problem. Now your pictures and movies and DLC should be there when you Restore...
 
The cars aren't linked to your PSN but rather your PS3. Every new game I've started was automatically given the car. Although you can't do ANYTHING until you but a car anyways. Very odd.
 
The pictures and other big files are not stored in the game save, they get placed in with the main game data (patches, installs etc).

All the game save will have is game status and cars and events won. It would be massive in size otherwise. Any dlc, will have to be downloaded from the store again, providing the same account that bought it is on the particular ps3.

That's how ps3 is working man, and Sony wotn change it for GT5 only.
 
you should be able to back up both the save file and the game data (im not positive about the game data)...back up both, and restore them. It should work then
 
I don't recall this ever happening and it's impossible to clone dlc as they can't be gifted. I know that my dlc has never been deleted or vanished so not sure why it happened to you at all
 
Any DLC is tied to the acct that sonloaded it. Fortunately GT5 shares DLC across all of the accts on the PS3.

My son has my DLC on his PS3, he does not live with us he's an adult. Now, that didn't happen by some miracle. It happened because he logged into my acct on his PS3. Then went to Acct Mgmt/Transaction Mgmt/Download List and grabbed said DLC.

Even though my 10 yr old daughter is still at home, we did the same with her PS3.
