I have a XBox-B that I need to transfer files from the hard drive to XBox-A. Do I need a link cable or can I do it through the cat-5 nic card on the back, and if with the nic cards, what kind of cat-5 cable do I use, 568A or 568B standard, cross-over, roll-over, or straight-through cable? Any suggestions appreciated.

Well you use a cross cable for direct connect. Though I don't know if you can transfer audio files or game files between XBoxes - I've never tried and I don't know of anyone that has.

Let me know if it works, I've been meaning to try it with a friend.

I will for sure. It apears that either a couple of standard cat5 cables to my router or a crossover cable should do the trick. I'll make some cables up tomorrow and give it a shot probably tomorrow night.

I didn't think that you could transfer files between Xbox' without the use of a memory card, but I've never tried.
And to play Xbox Linked games you need a crossover cable, so I would assume if a file X-fer to work, you would need the same.

Thanks for the insight Tom. I'm sure there's some kind of security to disable the abillity to share accross hard drives, but knowing Microsoft, there's a hole in there somewhere.. :)

Now off to work I go. :)

You can't do it without a Memory Card. Or if you have EvoX installed, you can copy the saved games to your computer hard drive via cross over cable and a router. And then just send it to the other box. But its cheaper to buy a memory card than a modchip.

Dang.... Well, I appear to have lost my memory card..., thus the search for a cat5 solution. Thanks for the advise though.

Ok, this is a stupid question and I searched and this was the best thread that came up. I am wondering if i can move my PGR2 data from the H-D to a memory card? Because I want to use my data online and the online is on a diffrent Xbox. Also if that will work can I save that data onto the 2 Xbox H-D and keep it on the memory card? Thank you.

With the memory card in a controller, you can go into the Dashboard of the XBox (turn on the XBox without a game loaded) and go to memory management. There you can copy data from your memory card to the XBox and visa-versa.
