saving During endurance races

I have read that you can save during endurance races so i don't have to leave my ps3 on overnight with the game paused.

How do i do that? i don't get any option in the pause menu to do so. And does it only apply to the 24hr races?
 
Go into the pits and you get the option to "Suspend Race".

You can save race in all endurance races, and the championship races in the various A-spec races.
B-spec im not sure about.
 
During any Endurance race you can pause after you enter the pits. Follow the prompts. When you return to the game it will bring you back to the pits. During a Championship series you can pause after a race & return to the championship when you come back. You do NOT have to pause your PS3 but NEVER download an update while in the middle of a race because it can cause all sorts of problems. You CAN pause B-spec the same way.
 
Do i need to be actually stopped in the pits? or while the AI is driving through it?
 
Oh that's kewl, I never knew that you could pause endurance races. I have to start doing 4 hours Tsukuba races in a-spec.

It comes up on the pit stop menu where you select the tires and amount of fuel you want.
