I'm going to start writing up a trip report but wondered if any forum software comes with the ability to save the draft of a new thread. At the moment I normally write any reasonably long post or thread in Word and then post when finished. Nothing worse than losing text because you forgot to copy the text before hitting the post button.

The most common cause of losing text for me is when you hit the submit/post button and the forum software has logged you out.

The draft feature would be handy as I would be able add to and delete from the saved draft thread anywhere without having to refer back to a Word document.

Just wondered if anyone had ever come across forum software that had this feature?

I always stay logged in so that never happens to me. Though that's only due to the fact that this is my laptop computer and I don't let anyone else use it.

How are you losing text, if yoiu're composing it in Word? Are you cutting then closing Word before pasting it into the edit window? If so, I'd suggest just keeping Word open a few seconds longer, until you've successfully posted.

I'm not losing text in Word, I have lost it previously in different forums. I post from work but obviously never leave my computer logged in to GTP. I was trying to find out whether there was any forum software that had the ability for users to save a draft of a post/thread so that it can be saved and then edited before posting.

If I could login from anywhere, go to my GTP settings and then find posts/threads to finish where I left off it would be quite useful.

I'm not aware of any forum software which supports this, but it would be a great feature to have.

One to add to the vBulletin customer feedback questionnaire when it next arrives in the inbox. :)
