Saw III -

Ok i'm a bit annoyed, i just wrote this really good, long review for this & i just deleted the whole bloody thing by accident!! So this review isn't going to be too long, i can't be bothered now.

The 1st 2 Saw movies were brilliant. Both had excellent twists & contain some of the (and THE) most horrific scenes in cinema ever.

This 3rd installment is a bit of a letdown. It starts very promisingly with a very hard to watch scene with Donnie Wahlberg trying to break free from his shackles. For a good few minutes it was teeth jarring. But after that it's just not gripping like the 1st or 2nd film. It hasn't got that, what the French call "I dont know what". There is an extremely (ahem) killer "twist" after quite a while. And caused me to involentarily blink it was really gross.

Jigsaw is brilliantly acted by Tobin Bell. He even make's you feel some sympathy for him (well till the very end). All the main characters are well acted. & the "story" is well written, it's just not on a par with the 1st 2.

Oh yes, you may have heard about people apparently fainting & having to be carried out of screenings of this. I'm sorry, but those people are either idiots (for seeing it in the 1st place) or wooses. Its called SAW for god sake, this ent a bloody PG13 horror. This is your fall on gruesome-fest. No wimps see this (although my mum loves all 3 Saws, read into that what you will).

That's happened at the Cinema I work at, poor fella was as white as a ghost!

I saw this movie the day it came out. For me, nothing really digusts me anything unless i see it for real. So it wasnt as nasty(to me anyways) as others say it is. The plot is better than saw2 but nowhere close to saw1.

Overall, it was a good movie. I thought it was more entertaining than saw2 even though the end of saw3 was kinda confusing.

But there is no doubt that saw1 is still the best

Saw this afternoon, and it just didn't do anything for me. Like 555 says, it just lacks that something that makes a movie interesting. Although, for me, even the twists didn't make me go 'OH MY GOD'!

I don't know if it's just me, but it seemed to me that they've now just concentrated on trying to create as many of the most brutal and gory deaths possible, rather then make an interesting and suspenseful plot like the first movie (and the second to a lesser extent).

The series has gone the same way as Cube, the first was a great, lowish budget movie, that while having gore, didn't solely rely on it to 'entertain' the audience. With each sequel, the budget goes up, but the story quality goes down.

3/10

Cube is a good comparison to the Saw films. But i don't think any where as good as the Saws. But at least with cube they new to stop at no.3 (Zero). There is a Saw 4 being made for next halloween.

Things really have to go some to gross or creep me out (even in real life) & the Saws are the only films that kind of managed it.

No offence to the guy that fainted but, what the hell was he watching Saw for! Was he just dumb and couldn't work out what it was about from the poster? The 1st 2 films have much worse scenes.

SPOLIERS

The twist at the very end was very good. But when i said "twists" i was referring to the guy who literally got twisted. That was really horrific.

END SPOILERS

Whoa just seen it and that twist at the very end was awesome. I agree with 555 with once again saying that Tobin Bell did a great job as Jigsaw.

SPOILERS!!!!! (Will make small and hidden colour for those who dont wanna see, arrows indicate where the spoiler is. lol):
->If they are making a Saw 4, who will now play Jigsaw? IMO, Tobin Bell has made that character his own and no one can fill that.<-

END SPOILERS!!!!!

I think the scene that was causing people to faint was the live impromptu open-brain surgery. Many people would start hyperventilating, possibly due to the large number of people who have phobias about surgery and / or waking up during it. You've got to admit that scene was kind of rough...

Yeah possibly Prime, but at least it wasn't like there were murderous screams of howling pain to really terrify people, instead it was a calm scene of an operation which turns some people stomachs.
I gotta admit though, when I heard the stories of people fainting I expected the film to be a WHOLE lot more disturbing then it actually was.

Anything can make a person faint while watching a movie. Man, I remember working at the movie theatre and having people faint during Titanic, because of the large swooping shots and the fact that the movie was sold out all day everyday so by the end of each night the theatre was hot as hell and people would get sick and dizzy. And movies like Saving Private Ryan or The Blair Witch Project made people sick and pass out too. But yeah, Saw III wasn't as disturbing as it was hyped up to be. But in my opinion, neither was Saw I or Saw II.

I assume IMDB is telling lies. Dirty, dirty lies. As under the credits of Saw IV has Jessica Alba in the cast. And wrote by Charlie Kaufman (Who wrote Being John Malkovich)

I didn't find the open head surgery scene grose or hard to watch at all. My mum on the other hand did. But she more hated the noise of the saw.

I still think the guy on the rack type machine was the worst bit. Made me flinch, which is very hard to do.
