How do you go about mod'ing something that much? Wouldnt you have to clear out everything , or at least a LOT under the hood and then switch it around with completly different parts? I dont see how it'd fit again just on the other side, unless you bought all new parts under the hood that were meant for other-side driving cars.
Conversion jobs are done all the time in Australia as we cant register a LHD car thats not atleast 30 years old. With the 86 Chev Suburban my dad has the brakes, steering were just switched to the right side and a cadillac steering box was used (a paticular model cadillac steering box suited). The dashboard it self was a new RHD dash that is made in Australia.
I can take photos if anyone would like to see
My dad also converted a 1979 Cadillac coupe deville and a 1983 pontiac trans am about 15years ago.
Maybe so we dont/didnt get bombed with popular American imports, 30 years onward allows classics to come unmodified, that couldnt stop Japanese imports so tighter laws are now implaced.
Back on the Integra, certain cars are legal to import, if the only difference is drive-side. This includes several of the Civic models, and the Integra Type R. Not only do they have the whole "JDM" factor, but they're often less expensive than their rare US equivelants. I've seen a JDM Type-R advertised for $12,500 a few months ago. Low mileage too.
