You can race as often or as occasionally as you want. If you want to race every two hours, that's possible. Or if you want to do a race once a year, that's up to you.

Thanks for the reply now got to get the money for a new computer my 6 year old Mac is too outdated.:cheers::gtpflag::gtpflag::):cheers::cheers::gtpflag:

I have seen that on the iRacing.com site since the day PC Gamer gave iRacing that award.

Now I know and understand that iRacing is based off a Nascar game originally, but in order to call themselves the worlds most professional online simulator then they will have to start to recognize the European

No ErikAndre71 you are missing the point all together. SKIDMARX claimed that iRacing (and I highlighted it in Red) that iRacing claims "call themselves the worlds most professional online simulator in the world"

I only pointed out, that it was PC gamer that said that. For you to jump in and defend SKIDMARX made no sense to me until someone told me he is part of your race car team club. I was under the believe you had quit this site after stating.

LOL, got a 10 point worth of infraction for my last message and the message to move on. And I guess I will do.

It was a pleasure while it lasted guys, but it all comes to a end. This will be my last post on this forum as I'm not going to change the way I am because of any forum. And when some moderator fails to see the bigger picture because I put 3 letters to my post.

I'm done with it.

The day I can live with being called a no life by a even more no life without commenting on it, I'm buried in the ground.

So even after I defended you on this matter, you decide to jump over me and tell me to "chillax" :D I guess it just taught me something about you Erik.

My opinion from the first day I got iRacing was that it was way to Americanized

Again, your statement sounds like another European with a thorn up his backside.

Your first quote did no highlight that part of it so LJ responded to the NASCAR part of it. How on earth should we be able to read your mind when quoting the entire thing?

I'm sorry for coming back again, and I never asked for you defending me. But call every European guys who want more European content for European guys with a thorn up backside is selfish and I don't expect you to understand.

And what you think you learned about me is all wrong anyway. It's a forum, I don't defend anyone I defend the case they talk about. Now I think you talk rubbish and I don't agree. So guess what, I speak my mind as everyone else on this forum.

So when you type 'iRacing.com' in on Google I'm guessing it says 'The Worst Online Sim Racing game'.

Actually it says 'The Premier Online Sim Racing Game' and the definition of 'Premier' is 'leading'. So they claim they are the 'leading' aka best and most advanced online simulator out there.

Now I'm fed up with replying to silly nonsense that some Canadian with a log up his backside makes up.
It's just my opinion, and many others opinion, and you may not agree with it but I really couldn't give a damn.

Well I tried it and I have to say that I guess I don't like it. If this is realism I guess I want a mix of arcade and realism. Forza 4 and Gt5 are about as real as I want it. I consider myself a good racer with many top 50 times in Forza but to me I just do not have the time to put in to this game that would be required to begin to be competitive.

I still have a month to play around with it but man it is soooo freaking hard and unforgiving which I guess is realistic. I really lack patience honestly and I think that it why this isnt working for me. I will give it another go as I was having some fun testing out the Mazda but man when I tried to higher class car I could not hardly make a corner without spinning and I lack the patience for it. It's not for everyone and I have enjoyed watching races quite a bit. Thx for the advice folks. I do plan to try it some more I am just afraid that it will also make me loose my skill at Forza 4 which I really enjoy since I would get used to iracing and how it feels. Wow, it is sooooo hard !

Am I missing something or going about it wrong ? As I said I lack patience and I think that is a requirement for this game. Just feels so overwhelming and unforgiving. The feel of weight transfer and FF is amazing though.

Drop me a PM in the iRacing forums -- I've been doing a series of "iMentor Virtual Driving School" lessons with a buddy who's new to iRacing. He's done a lot of autocross and track time and such, but he's been very hesitant to race and he's had trouble coming up to speed in iRacing.

My "lessons" are all done via PM -- I give you objectives to focus on each week, with different achievement "tiers" (basically, bronze, silver, and gold achievement levels) to give you something to focus on progress-wise.

I ONLY do road racing, so my "iMentor" stuff is solely focused on the MX-5 Rookie class (and the tracks used there).

Don't give up yet -- give this a try for a week or so and see how it goes.

;)

.

It's just my opinion, and many others opinion, and you may not agree with it but I really couldn't give a damn.

Sure you give a damn, you wouldn't have started whining about iRacing in the first place. You and a few other Europeans think iRacing is to Americanized, it's been stated many times here.

You don't see Americans, Canadians complaining about Sim Bin titles being to Europeanized do you? Didn't think so!

Just keep in mind, iRacing is situated in America. IMO it has just as much European racing as North American racing. This all started with your crying about iRacing has there nose in the air attitude. If you don't believe me just go back and read what you typed.

Ok ok guys give it up, not the place for that.

Anyway, so it's like following a syllabus with pointers via PM? That's cool!

Its not unfair to say iRacing is very American ...anymore than it is to say GT5 has too many Japanese cars in it..

but they are moving in the right direction, many European cars and tracks in the works... Australian and UK tracks coming .... they added a few Japanese tracks last year... just because it has NASCAR doesn't mean it doesn't do road racing very well, its still the best road racing anywhere for multi-player

and if the game is too hard for you, really its YOU, its not the game....but better to play something else than get invested in a SIM you have to pay monthly for that your not going to enjoy. There are so many more arcadish games out there than realism so I don't feel bad for anyone who thinks iRacing is too hard.

I got into iRacing a little less than a month ago and I wasn't all that into oval racing at all. I thought that since I had put a lot of time behind a wheel in GT5 that it would be easy for me to get behind an iRacing car and drive competitively. Like you I had a rude awakening...spinning out all the time and just a miserable introduction to what racing really is. I got frustrated, but kept at it and finally got to where I could finish races with minimal incidents, mostly a couple off tracks.

Then about 3 weeks in, I was sitting on my couch youtubing some videos and was looking for a fast lap around a track in the skippy as I was about to purchase the car.

Stumbled upon this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQRmYMlmdqM

After watching that video, it's old and an hour and a half long, the game and car physics and mechanics just made sense. I was nearly unable to drive a lap in the SPEC ford racer before watching the video, after watching...I was able to turn repeatable consistent laps. No joke! The sim just made sense. It made me realize the cartoonism that GT5 added to racing and really made me enjoy iRacing that much more. Since watching that video I have added 3 road wins and 6 oval wins to my name and promoted out of rookie to D class in both road and oval.

Good luck to you in your decision to move forward. Hopefully this helps you as it did me. I look forward to racing with you soon.

Great post - it's nice to have a full perspective of the relation between one's driving skill in GT5 vs. real life race cars or the iRacing experience. I've always liked that Skip Barber Going Faster video (I bought the DVD in 2008) as well, though it took real experience before I truly understood and could actually apply everything in that.

I too am preparing myself for what will surely be somewhat of a rude awakening when I start playing iRacing... for the moment I'm just running through FM4's career mode. Even that was a bit of a rude awakening after years of playing GT5 - despite running with all the driver aids off (no ABS either), it's astounding how much GT5 lets you get away with, that Forza won't forgive. I'm fairly certain my introduction to iRacing will be another big evolution... and that's fine, since I do want to enjoy my racing games but ultimately what I want is to get better at driving.

Also, a big "right on" to WedgeX about iRacing's being "too hard" for some and that's OK... A good analogy would be if you go to a racing school and drive cars that have manual, unsynchronized gears... lots of guys who thought they were good racers were humbled by those old school formula 2000 race cars and were spinning all over the place until they got a better grasp of the physics. I've even heard some guys flat out admit their realization that it wasn't for them after all. I wouldn't want the school to change the cars to make them easier to drive just because some people find it too difficult. "If it were easy, everyone would do it. The hard is what makes it great."

Don't try to drive more than one car at a time. It's going to take you awhile to learn each car you get into in iRacing. In that respect it's much different than GT or Forza. Once you've been at it for awhile you may be able to switch between cars, but especially at first, you will need to focus on one car at a time. It's like real life racing in that respect. If you are new stick to the MX-5 for a few weeks and then maybe switch to the Cadillac or Mustang when you are ready to move to D class. If you lack patience and are easily frustrated then please avoid the Spec Racer Ford and Skip Barber. They will drive you batty.
