It's a dolphin, you can tell by the shape of the fins.

Speaking of sharks, I almost gotten attacked by one, I was getting out of the water at the beach once(That's right the beach!) and every one was running out except me cause I didn't know there was a shark behind me! No body said there was a shark they just said "GET OUT OF THE WATER"! It was only about 4ft though, but it could of taken a chunk out of my leg!

Are you positive it's a dolphin because I can't tell if the tail is upright or not.

Do you remember it was on the news some time last year where the Great White (Carcharodon Carcharias ) came right outta the wave and took a surfer. Luckily the guy managed to get away but it was still pretty horrific watching it.

arent dolphins shorter and fatter than that - I thought most species of shark were slim and long, like in the pic

It's 12-15 feet long. I've never seen or heard of a dolphin that size.

The water seems to be refracting the light from the tail - to me the tail is vertical, with a longer top edge than bottom. Dolphin's dorsal fins are not pointed either - only tapered (although that could also be an effect of refraction).

It's certainly not a bottlenose dolphin, as powripper's site suggests. I think it's a shark species.

I think a Beluga Dolphin can grow to that size. . . but who knows. . . I believe this picture appeared in Maxim Magazine as a fake btw. . .

Famine, haven't been to the local aquarium, have you? Most sea dolphins are that big (at least the ones I know about).

Thats balls, they say it'a Bottlenose Dolphin, they don't get as big as the one in that pic. As for the tail, you can't tell if it's upright or not, I'm going with the shark idea.
