I am trying out SCC beta and am considering buying full version. I have used Ferrari Challenge extensively for quite a while, and am wondering about a few things which may have been improved/introduced in SCC (apart from cars and tracks). Hopefully somebody with the full version can answer my questions!

- Are split times saved? (locally, or on the SCC databases)
- Are there any split times shown during laps in time-trial or races?
- Is the viewing of lap records/time trials more extensive than the beta version; can be filtered by car etc?
- Generally, is the lap record leaderboard functionality identical to FC, or improved?
- For lap record queries more than 1000 results, does it actually show the full amount? (FC always just showed up to 1000, even if > 1000)
- When setting improved laps in time trials, is the rank displayed in game, or does one have to go all the way out to the menus to check the lap times?
- Do lap times upload to the database immediately, or is there a delay of a few minutes? (This problem is in FC - not sure if it's just me experiencing this)

That's all - thanks!

Hi Alan_G,

I'll try and answer some of these.

- Are split times saved? (locally, or on the SCC databases)
I don't believe the split times are actually saved anywhere--just the completed lap time.

- Are there any split times shown during laps in time-trial or races?
When you say "split times" I'm not sure if you mean the distance between you and other cars or the 3 sector times relative to the lap record. In races, either online or off-line, there is a counter which updates in real time the distance between you and the car in front and behind. It's very useful as you can see exactly where you're gaining or losing time.

- Is the viewing of lap records/time trials more extensive than the beta version; can be filtered by car etc?
There are two different leaderboards and I'm not sure why Eutechnyx chose to do this. There is the ultimate lap records for a particular track, similar to what's in the beta. But over time this will quickly become dominated by the 333SP so I can't see the point. Then there's the "Record" table which is similar to FC's leaderboard in that you can filter by top 10, all, friends, etc and can choose the car and the circuit. This is limited to the top 100 best times.

- Generally, is the lap record leaderboard functionality identical to FC, or improved?
Improve (see below).

- For lap record queries more than 1000 results, does it actually show the full amount? (FC always just showed up to 1000, even if > 1000)
Yes and no. (See above). The top times leaderboard shows several thousands places (I believe) but the filtered leaderboard only shows the top 100. I believe Eutechnyx claims they're limited by Sony in this.

- When setting improved laps in time trials, is the rank displayed in game, or does one have to go all the way out to the menus to check the lap times?
It's a big improvement. When you run a Time Trial it will display the 'world record' for that car at that track, during the entire event. So it's always sitting there, staring at you in the face. And while you're running time trial, there is no ghost car but a live time split indicator where it constantly shows your speed relative to your last or best lap. It's very accurate and much less distracting than a ghost car.

- Do lap times upload to the database immediately, or is there a delay of a few minutes? (This problem is in FC - not sure if it's just me experiencing this).
It may take a minute to upload to the database but so far every lap record I hit was displayed within a short time. And when you finish Time Trial, it will automatically show you where you placed on the leaderboards, even if it doesn't post it immediately.

Thanks for the answers! Very helpful.

I bought the game anyway (actually before checking any replies here!). Well worth the buy; more more improved on FC than I was expecting.

About the split-time thing; I notice in the game it refers to the distance between two cars as a "split-time". That doesn't make sense to me; I'm pretty sure "split-time" was created to refer to how a circuit has a split between sections with a time for each sector.
