Supercar Challenge - Ferrari Challenge Series - F430 Challenge

Race day 29-08-2010 20:00 gmt

f430ch06.jpg

THE EVENT
Those familiar with Supercar Challenge and have taken part in the 348 and the 355 Challenge series understand this game's features and play system have a good idea of what to expect. As a reminder to those returning and as a note to those new to the event GTPlanet's OLR Rules apply. Please click here to read them in their entirety. Some of the rules listed do not apply specifically to this game. But most of them should be simple common sense.

I will first open a PSN Text Chat room under my PSN ID: mhm66 approximately 5~10 minutes before the event starts and will first send invites to those on my buddy list who are on-line and have expressed an interest in joining this series. You must first join the text chat to take part in the race. If anybody new would like to join, provided there's space in the lobby (16 players or less), you're more than welcome. Just send me a PSN message and I'll send you an invite in return. However, considering the points will carry over from one event to the next, I would like to encourage those who want to join this series to try and show up for every race. Once everybody is securely in the text chat room, I will open a private lobby in Supercar Challenge and then send invites to those already in the next chat window.

I'm very pleased to see you guys are continuing the series. I hope to be there for this race.

I have to say, I was never a huge fan of F430 Challenge. Just like with the DB9, making the usual tuning adjustments to this car turns it from somewhat benign to a real handful. And I find it's terribly difficult to control. I'll have to try and make a few runs to get used to it. :)

I'll I think I'll join in for this Misano event. But I would prefer not to do anymore after that.

To be honest, I'm looking forward to finishing up with SCC. There is great racing to be had sometimes, but a lot of stress along with this game; so many bugs, badly designed circuits, menus, dodgy car setups etc. And another whopping bug surfacing recently - those screen-freezes impacting the integrity of the lap timing (it's shocked me - it's the worst one since the TT timing bug realised last September).

The main reason I have to get away from SCC is because I want to focus on GT5P, and it's not possible to comfortably switch between the two games due to the two opposing steering-input systems. It took a few days just to fully adapt back to SCC for the Spa event. The thing is, I can easily adapt to GT5P, because the steering-input method is very natural, but just not the other way round.

I'm well aware that SCC is many times better with a wheel. But there's nothing I can do for that now. Hopefully Eutechnyx will carry over all of the good wheel-feel to their next games.

:odd: You want to concentrate on GT5P? To what end? It's a dead game. And if it's still barely breathing, it hasn't got much more life than Ferrari Challenge. At least not at this point. In fact, especially not at this point.

I know what you're (probably) thinking Alan but practicing with Prologue may NOT actually help you that much for the arrival of GT5. The physics, play system and tracks could all end up being vastly different.

Either way, you're going to make poor Henrik feel badly now. He displays the brass cojones necessary to take over these events and the only two people who respond so far are possibly drunk (sorry Bullie :D) and the guy who said he doesn't have the time or commitment to play SCC anymore.

Come on, there will be PLENTY of time for GT5. We're all going to play it DEATH. We'll be sick and tired of it, I assure you. And you'll get to start making the Bugman moniker a household word, just a day or two after I start playing. :sly:

It's not much of a head start.
:dopey:

That's quite a grand assumption. I haven't even thought about GT5. There are a couple of things I figured out recently to make the pad much more usable with GT5P, and it's much, much more challenging than SCC. I probably wouldn't mind occasionally coming back to SCC, but it's extremely awkward to switch between the two games.

I'm well aware that the GT5 physics may be different; the GT Academy demo had a much improved steering-input system. But I'm thinking nothing about GT5 now; I don't even know what input device I'll be using with it. Also, practicing SCC has made me better at all racing sims! (be it GT5P, Toca RD, or even FC when I tried that out again)

I don't have to justify why I may not use SCC much anymore. I've been arguably the most regular, most lapping GTP user in SCC, so frequently online and always available to race with anyone, share setups etc (apart from a few months when I was doing my finals exams). I'm just 1 user; I don't have more of a responsibility than anyone else. What about all those users who turn up here and dabble in SCC, occasionally turning up to events when it may suit them, and not turning up to others with no communication at all?

I'm sorry to Henrik, and also Vompatti, who maybe were looking forward to plenty more good racing with myself. But it's not even a fair race. The raw pace of wheel and pad are very close, but over a race distance I've got a clear advantage; the physicality/endurance won't make me more likely to make a mistake. And the pad has this crap assistance built into its system. So it puts this constant question-mark over the laps/performances that I put in, which I'm not happy with.

Hi all
This was only made because for me there's no new racing game out yet that I dying to try. After this race (if enough people turn up)I'll probaly ask if anybody is interested in more races. If so we can carry on untill something else get people of this game and into other games.I'm currently waiting for wrc2010 but I'll have to wait for some review as to it's physics, because i'm not going to play it if it's arcade.Untill then I'll stay with SCC.
Hope to see more people joining.

I am trying to join. I am fairly new to this game, and haven't played online yet. Still struggling the first challenge with all assists off ! While I thought I was not bad at racing games, SCC is something different. But addicitive. Do you guys mean the Ferrari 430 GT2 ?

Hi Minardi--no, this would be the Ferrari F430 Challenge, not the GT2.

Hmm,Sergio lying on the sunny Algarve's beach getting pi$$ed right beside his Wife and children-not really sure 'bout the dogs-well that would be something worthy of a YouTube video,to say the least...:p:D

I haven't registered yet because I'm not really sure about mine schedule to the 28th,it has to be decided more "on the fly",but I am full supportive of,this or any other GTpeer as a matter of fact, event in SCC.👍
BTW,guys let's also give biggles some feedback about his new format for our Racing League,I know he should be curious about what others think about his suggestion👍
The way I see it WRC-Blackbean,remember?!-and F1 2010 won't be the sim racing experience we're all expecting-though hopefully I am wrong- and I'm done with 1 month(and 70 Euros)lasting virtual racing experiences.
And although I'm looking forward some racing with you guys in GT5P-at least Alan,Bullie and Kemp showed some interest on this-and Dirt II with JJ,Lassi and Mario(btw did You got it,guess you have some sparing pocket money since the TDU 2 delay)I think my virtual racing efforts should be mostly in SCC until November, there are cars I haven't even playedthat's why I find so ridiculous the complains about Gt5 only having 200 premium cars, hell I am glad to if I can have a go with all of them, let alone the others 800 standard:crazy: and which I found to be very enjoyable to "discover" after all this months, most of the cars I own still don't have setups or liveries and I guess this is true to most of us-specially Lassi and Kemp whom have the game only for a few months-with Alan being probably the sole exception(let's hope You join us now and then).👍
Above all I really like racing in a clean, fair and friendly environment like the one we have built here-something people sometimes only value when they try other racing games-I am thinking of SSV8NC,where the cheaters and rammers ruled and drove away most clean racers from the game, and GTPeers were a good example-so I hope to keep the things rolling in these Events,in Biggles league or informally in random meetings during week nights.👍:)

:gtpflag:

Yea count with me. But don't think I'll practice as much as the past events. Like Arvore said, there are still lot of things to do with this game (cars, tournaments, etc..) and most of all it would be nice to give Biggles League a real chance! And a bit of GT5p too...

Hi
Had a half hour of practice this morning and sat a benchmark time.I'm sure it will be beaten but it was enough to beat the previus best by almost 1.5 sec.Happy hunting.

nice :)

im in, i try to be there...

generally the 355 and the 430 are similar, but the much more modern build makes it a nicer car to drive, but it's still a challenge.. can bee trickery :)

(sorry Bullie [/SIZE]:D)

Nahhh...

And just for the record (and make you more jealous) I think of you today while lunching half-dozen grilled sardines on coal and drinking two half-liter beer cups on the outside of the fishing dock with my shades on (the bright sun reflecting on the calm blue atlantic waters was too intense...). Ah! All this happen with a temperature around 33ºC and a soft refreshing sea breeze (are you already green and biting yourself with jealousy?)

Well, I have to admit, I think I feel about the F430 Challenge about what new_soul felt with the F355 Challenge. In short, I dislike it. Or at least the way it feels in SCC. To be honest, I don't think they got it right.

Hi JJ
I dont know what you mean by "got it right",but I think that the car is more diifficult to drive because of the power of the engine. It has nearly 100 Bhp and that make's it prone to slide more.I think that is a more challenge car to drive.I've found the spec. on both car so it can be compared.

My problem with the car is the way it seems to 'wallow' on it's suspension, especially in lift throttle situations. And in the way it tracks a bit unevenly and seems to lose grip and then regain it in an unpredictable way. Perhaps my setup is simply all wrong but I'm not even a fan of this car in stock settings. I never was. But it's one of the reasons that Ferrari Challenge used to frustrate me because if there were 6 public lobbies opened, 5 of them were with the F430 Challenge.

But you're right, it's fast. :)

Me too! I feel it is particularly tricky with the "standard" setups...:indiff:

Although I have to confess I didn't took much time in figuring out which works best for this Car\Track combo...

edit:But I sure love how it sounds...:)

the brakes are alot sharper
and the gearbox alot faster

misano is a very tight track and cant see many good places to overtake (or in my case be overtaken)
should be interesting

It's possible, that I cant make it for sunday's race. We are starting to be in the middle of moving and naturally I'm having really hard time to find any time to practice. So just a little heads up, that you don't need to wait for me if I'm not there on sunday.

Henrik I'm not certain of the time I'm able to get home...so don't wait for me.:guilty:

Who else is doing this event? I'll be there.

Indy MotoGP on at 1900 GMT, finish around 1940, so should be a good timing.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'm going to make it today. :( Still trying though.

Hi all
Since only Alan and Mr.fingers showed up we only did a shorter version.I wont write
a big report but it was still fun.
