Hi all,
I have taken on the task of building myself a budget cockpit to go with my Logitech G27 that will be arriving next week *Fingers crossed*. I do not intend to impress or "Wow" anyone like chilicoke, but rather to provide an easy, cost effective plan for anyone just starting out in sim racing. That being said, I am starting completely from scratch as I have never owned a sim rig in the past.
Day 1: Finding a car seat. To my suprise, this was incredibly easy. I went to the local junkyard, told them my plans, and they found me the perfect seat from a '93 Honda Prelude. Here is a shot of it at first look:
A bit dirty, eh? The seat cost me a grand total of $54. A pretty good deal, I'd say.
Day 2: Buying materials. I went to my local department store and purchase some 8' 2x4's (exact number will be posted upon completion) and a box of 2" wood screws. With the help of some friends, I mounted my newly acquired car seat to the 2x4's cut to length (Detailed plans posted upon completion).
It's ugly. I'm not going to lie. But I'm more of a function>Fashion guy, so it doesn't bother me much.
Thanks for reading! More updates and detailed plans coming in the future.
