Schwimmwagen what a blast!

I had a blast running the VW Schwimmwagen. My wife was watching and we were laughing the whole time I was racing the beast. I ran if off the road a few times and rolled it. What a blast. I have pictures and will post when I get the time. If you dove into a corner the front end would dive and the back wheels would raise up then it would roll. Anyone else have fun with this? I went ahead and maxed the THING out and got 99 hp out of it. I think I am going to run this race again just for the fun of it!! :crazy:
 
I Lovedddd that race when i tuned it up! such fun to drive even if it only goes around 80mph!
 
I got 112HP out of mine. The rolling was good, takes care to run it fast around corners.
 
I agree, this was a fun event. A lot of people seem to hate it though... Me, I loved the fact that it could tip over if you turned too abruptly, lol :D

Yeah, that'd be so cool. I imagine a track just for it where its pavement, dirt then water.

It was fun to race. I thought it'd be slow and boring. I also didn't know that VW made these things back then. Cool. 👍
 
I'm envisoning a deep old lake track where there's a quarry with water at the bottom where you need to circle a dirt road to get down, so people like me can just drive off the cliff and land in the water.
 
i maxed mine out to 127 and put a custom transmission on it. made the max speed about 130 or so. who cares about acceleration when your racing a fiat 500. spent more than i made but ive got about 12 mil so i wasnt to upset. pretty fun race though car actually didnt handle all that bad.
 
anybody trade for the schwimmwagen and not get the full 800,000. I'm starting it now and at the start screen it lists 176,000 as the prize. i'm thinking it's because i traded for it.
 
never mind. i got all 800,000. if you thought the vw was fun. you guys should check out some of the older lightweight racecars: honda s800 rsc race car and ginetta g4. they just whip around the course.
 
One of the best S.E. ... it's a real challenge run that bathtub and win without spend a lot of the profits of the race

It's 800000 for al the prizes accumulated.
Only 1st place is 176000 (and if finishing 1st you also get 2nd prize and so on)
 
I thought I was the only one! I poured all the mods into it and painted it bright orange, best fun I've had in the game yet!
 
I did not like the race, as I do not like tuning up my expensive historic cars (I want them stock). Since you cannot de-tune engine upgrades I am unhappy.
 
For a good laugh raise suspension to 90 both ends and hit the brakes at 100kmh+
for a really good laugh do it on the top of the "jump" after the spiral, bonus points for landing on the wheels.
 
Odd. My Schwimmwagen doesn't roll or dive under braking. Mostly, it slides laterally in corners.

The best bit I had was at the bump before the braking point at the bottom of the hill after the jump. Hit the brakes and the back end jumped in the air with the front end still on the ground. All with stock suspension.

I did want to take a phot of it, but it was on the final lap and I wasn't going through 9 minutes of replay for that!

Same here.

I enjoyed this race, but I ran it multiple times and got a little frustrated with it.
I know my first two tries I skidded once or twice, and I'm sure that killed my chances. The third time, and a few after that, were 'perfect' runs, but I still have yet to even see the rear bumper on the second place car. :odd:

It can get a little frustrating to run full-out for 5 laps and still finish +19 sec. :indiff:

Yep, fully tuned. Everthing upgraded, full engine mods, racing medium tires, and a stage 3 turbo boosting it to 112hp. There aren't any more mods I can do to it, and it still never got me closer than 3rd place.

Even with all of the mods, that little van that's in the race, was passing me on the straights.
I'd catch him easily in the turns, though.

Do you have the adjustable transmission? Remember to set it to 140-150 km/h (87-93 mph)

That is the key element! Set that puppy up to 110 mph and you will be going 95mph in the roundabout then head for the jump! Whoopee! what a blast!:)

Well I know what I'm doing when I get home today! I already have the fully adjustable tranny, so it looks like I'll be adjusting the settings. :)

Likewise, my wagon doesn't roll or dive either...this is with all mods...tried adjusting ride height spring rate etc ...

Great race though, loved driving it
 
Use Super Adjustable Suspension (TM) and raise it to the max. Makes it tons more fun when rolling, literally, around the tracks (-:

Does not compute.
Are you sure you got Racing softs on? If you are 50 sec behind with a maxed out wagen with the correct transmission settings you are spending most of your time offroad... When I did the challenge with R3's on I won by 36 seconds.
