I love the look of this car. Scion says they were trying to get the look of American Vintage, and I think they did. The first thing I thought of when I saw this was the old Ford Tudors. I hope this makes it to production, I wouldn't mind having one and making it look even more vintage. Maybe a black matte finish, some high gloss red outline flames, some pin striping here and there.

And I thought the ugliness of the xB coudn't get worse. :yuck: They even copied the SE-R's bottom bumper, Seat's grille, Infiniti's headlights, and I think Hyundai's wheels. Hideous...

Loon, man, you are about a month and a half late to the party on this car. Didn't it debut in New York?

Anyways, with a redesigned top half it wouldn't look all that bad. The front windscreen's 90 degree angle make the car look off since it's primarily curvy though out the rest of it. Put a rake on the windscreen and hack the top off and that would be a cool little cruiser.

Scion has been the company most people love to hate. It's just a concept car. I'm sure that they aren't going to make all of their machines look like this. I'm sure they won't be coming along with this as a road-going car. For some hateful of sport compacts, some may agree this is a bit more towards Americana the way this looks. Maybe not a custom 1920s Ford with a big block, but it does have that feel to it. At least this looks better than that Pontiac G6 GXP (maybe I'm a bit partisan to the sport compact scene). Only Scion I've never liked was the xA (thankfully retired).

The American vintage look is there even if it doesn't look like a true 1920s custom. To be honest, I think this style is really outside of Scion being known as a lightning rod for the sport compact scene. Maybe they're trying to show that they can design decent-looking American cars that can be as customizable and as fu as what Scion provides. We'll see if this may actually materialize into something. Question is, if they do come off with a car similar in style to this, could this be their first road-going RWD car? I'm sure the car will appear more aerodynamic than this. People say the xB is a box. Well... explain this.

Yeah it was, but I don't venture around car news very often, and they were talking about this car in C&D and R&T.

This car would have even more of an american feel to it if it was RWD. The engine bay on it now appears large enough for a good size motor. And Scion explains this car as the sporty version of a box. So using their logic I suppose its the sporty version of a xB.

I still like this car, but with Scion I've never met anyone who said thet kinda liked them, or sort of didn't. It's always black and white with Scion, either you love em or you hate em.

If Hako means box, why are the fenders much rounder than the xB...never mind.

The first time the owner goes above 45mph in that car, the driver will flip the car on purpose to reduce the wind noise.

Looks like a bear eating something very unpleasant, but an interesting concept, and very practical, too. Slightly more aerodynamic than a Nissan Cube, fuel savings and performance may be marginally higher.

The U.S. Mail scheme rendering is sharp.

Thanks! :D

I don't hate Scion, but this is unforgivable... I've liked eery other Scion concept, and even the new xB isn't too bad in my opinion. Are there worse looking cars? Yes, but this... FAIL.

there, looking better already :)
american vintage lmao for that "look" it takes more than just being boxy :dunce:
id love to know what they looked at for their inspiration of "american vintage", even though it is just marketing rubbish to pad out statements :dopey:

No, having the vertical window is part of what adds to the American vintage look.

Its funny because I like every bit of design like the back and rear until you reach the front and you see someone went on a lunch break!

^lol, yeah... I like it though.

Uh... why is this coming up now? It's been on the net for a while now. The postal truck version is Suzq's PS chop. (I think)

I think most designer can design something beautiful and easy on eyes
but it takes so much skills to create something super fugly.
*passing the award to Scion* ... Man this is old.

Looks pretty similar to me

The Aquila is a brutal and unhappy marriage of traditional design cues. The front looks like a Gordon Keeble to some extent, the interior shape recalls the Peel P50, and the rear end looks like a breadvan. It is extraordinary to think that all these cars were certainly not bad-looking, but created this horrible monstrosity. Even if the Aquila is an artist rendering, it is very much less harmonious than the Scion. At least the styling cues of the Hako are related.
