I saw this video a while back but it doesn't seem to have garnered much attention on GTPlanet. Could give some insight into historic vehicles place in GT5. This was the first part in a three part series documenting Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi's trip to Pebble Beach in the fall of 2008 for the Concours d'Elegance. There he was to select one car for a very unique prize... the chance to have their car available to be driven in Gran Turismo 5. This was also the very first hint that Lamborghini was to be included in GT5 (the 1967 Lamborghini Miura P400 Bertoni prototype won 2008, and a 1965 Alfa Romeo TZ2 won 2009). As we know cars from SEMA and the Tokyo Auto Salon win every year the chance to be included in the game and it seems the Polyphony Award at Pebble Beach will be more of the same. Watch if you are interested.

This was the second in a series of three videos that was created for the release of Gran Turismo 5. Here we followed Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi as he took a trip to the Monterey Historics to watch some of the most pristine classic racing cars out there take to the track.

The creators' names are Parker Wilson and Graham Simon and I am not sure if they were involved in the creation of the Nurburging documentary or any of the other GT TV specials.

Thanks for posting these, I never saw them before. You don't have any idea where the third part is?

Honestly I have no idea. I have been trying to see if Parker Wilson has his own site. Maybe we could get him to post the third part.

"...A car that transcends all others in performance, design, and ability to reduce sophisticated grown men into giddy little boys."

Great film. As for the different parts, I think the third part was never made (as it was never released, that seems like an option), because it seems rather odd that Mr. Wilson wouldn't post it if he uploaded the other two.

👍 thanks for posting :)

Also it seems I cannot spell the word "scrapped" correctly.

if you edit your first post then click "Go Advanced" you can edit the title of the thread.

I just want some 1960's F1 cars and I'll be more than happy. The Goodwood Revival was on TV here recently. Far better to watch than modern racing.

Seems to have gone the same way as the Ferrari documentary's, I even paid for the first one, then nothing else ever appeared !

Brilliant to watch, thanks for the links.

I'd guess and say we'll see these and the third part on GTTV when GT5 ships, along with similar documentaries.

Also slightly less relevant to GT but still involving Kazunori Yamauchi is a short documentary on his participation in the 25 Hours of Thunderhill with the Spoon Sports team. This is not a GT TV video but instead was created by a group called GT Channel who has a fair amount of Youtube vids as well ranging from car tests to car backgrounds.

Always nice to hear great things about Granturismo from F1 drivers (especially if they drive for Toyota :D )

THIS is why I love cars! Awesome!

I hope Kaz took some notes there and adds more classic cars to the Gran Turismo series, especially those cars from the 60s, 70s and 80s?

I saw it somewhere!!very emotional videos and it's always great to watch this documentary's about classic cars!👍

Thanks for posting these great videos! 👍

Nice insight into Kaz's association with cars, particularly about his personal knowledge.
I just hope some of this new experience he's had translates into his game at some point!

👍

By the way to embed a vimeo video put the digits after the vimeo.com/ between vimeo tags so this video would be

Enjoyed that apart from the pronunciation of Tyrrell!

Haha, I was in total disbelief when I heard that!

@Strittan I know what you mean; I really need to attend one of these classic meets one day; Goodwood's Festival of Speed isn't quite the same, and that's the closest I've been...

See... that's what Gran Turismo does best; promoting further interest. 👍

Nice videos Duphman thanks, was especially interesting to me to see Kaz mentioning quite frankly he wasn't really that interested in classic cars before which may explain the huge time gap in GT4 between the Model-T and the Beetle and the only car from the thirties being the Auto-Union.

Liked how he described to currently be "reflecting on my attitude" which is a nice way of saying I might need to change my mind.
And the 6-wheel Tyrrell being one of his favourites possibly bodes well for any future inclusion in a GT-game.:)

There were actually three parts to the Inside Ferrari doc on GTTV (I know cause I paid for all three). You used to be able find all of them on Youtube but not anymore. At least you can still get the 3rd and final installment:

Wow all three vids here are awesome. The last shot of mykem's vid is a shot of Enzo Ferraris office in the exact same way it was when he was still running the jont.

I enjoyed watching Timo Glock winning, for a change. He's become so used to sitting at the back of the grid in his Virgin F1 car, I'm sure. Also interesting to hear him talk about Gran Turismo, and his love of GT4.

;)
