Hi, I have this bug that's driving me nuts. Once in a while while I'm racing my screen goes black for about 2 seconds (forcing me to panic-pause) and then it returns to normal. Needless to say that's pretty annoying. This only happens in some races and it can occur a few times in the same race. GT5 is the only game that does this.

I have a Super Slim PS3 connected to an Onkyo receiver which outputs to an LG plasma TV and surround sound system. Any ideas?

I've had this a few times, presuming it's the same issue. For me it was an problem with my internet connection. Might be something to look into.

Hi. This started happening to me a while back. What i found, with many hours of brain-****ing, is that the HDMI cable seemed to be 'going'.

I boughy a new one and it fixed it.

Also it may happen when another electrical device (fan, radio) is turned on or off. I can't explain why however. I suspect it messes with the electrical signals from the ps3

How did you fix it? My PS3 is always connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi.

That's likely your problem, it should be wired if possible. Also, try playing with the wi-fi switched off if it keeps happening, or switch it to a different channel (I don't know how to do that, but a Google search should bring you the answer easily). Good luck! :)

Does this happen to you in an online race as you are pulling out of the pits by chance? You can hear the car revving, maintaining the pit speed limit, but you cannot see anything? This happens to me occasionally and I agree, it does cause a panic. Not such a big deal on a course like Eiger, which has a ridiculously long pit exit, but a heart-in-stomach feeling on London/Top Gear/Nürburgring = tracks with a short pit lane exit or no pit lane exit at all.

Sounds like to me it has to do with something in the video input.

Which could either be...
1. Simple as a HDMI cord going bad
2. Your PS3's HDMI output could be bad
3. Your TV's HDMI input could be bad.

You should test another device with a different HDMI cord in your TV see if everything runs fine. If it does it isn't your TV

You should test your PS3 with a different HDMI cord and see if it runs fine. If it does run fine then it was probably the HDMI cord. If the problem continues then it is probably the PS3's output that is bad.

I switched some HDMI cables around and played GT5 for almost an hour and haven't gotten the black screen yet. If it's solved, I think the issue was the cable connecting the receiver to the TV (not the one connecting the PS3 to the receiver). Fingers crossed it won't happen again, thanks for your help everyone.

Glad to see it is working now. Sometimes those cables go bad.
