PitchBlackFire
So i lost all my save data thanks to a sony rep telling me to hold onto my drive and not to bother backing up the data.

I remembered that ages ago i had made copies of saved data from 2 different PSN accounts. I found them and copied them over to my PS3. I didnt see the name of either of the PSN accounts for the files anywhere.

I logged into my main account and noticed that something was off. I had none of the saved data from the memory card that i had copied over, i just had like 5k or 10k starting cash and my profile picture for the game, i think i had a few gift cars too.

As for the other save, i didnt get the gift cars and cant remember if i had any money, but the save was clearly not copied over properly.

So i tried to see if i could mess with the files or try copying them again, or seeing if there was some fluke. And now i cant find the saves on either my SD or sony memory stick. I checked with both accounts and nothing is showing up.

I then use an adapter to check the files with my computer, everything seems intact/normal.

Does anyone have any idea why the saves arent showing up?
Does anyone know why the saves might not have copied over properly?
Can i copy one of my current saves over to either of the cards and not lose the data of the save already on there?

- Thanks

If it was saved under pitchblackfire and that is the account name you are running under now it should work easy enough. You can only have 1 save on a memory stick at a time i believe. If you have 2 memory sticks then save your progress now to the one your not using or transfer the data from that to PC so as it is blank then save and then reload from the other stick that has a previous game save.

It should work easy enough? What should?
I have a copy of a save from 1 of 2 PSN accounts on an SD card, and another on a memory stick. I can no longer see the save on either card on either account on my PS3, but i can see the data is still there when i look at the cards with my computer.

So your saying i would need another card or an empty one to make another BUp then right?
What about recovering from those saves on the cards that didnt seem to copy to my ps3? I cant see them on the cards so how am i supposed to copy them to my ps3s HD?

One of the saves was for pitchblackfire and does not show up on that account under the memory card data utility, or what ever that section is that shows you the saves on your cards.

Did you copy these saves to a computer and then back to a USB?
I've run into a problem (that I created) when i copied a folder that contained a save instead of just the save, or maybe I renamed it. When inserted it would show up as empty. Anyway it needs to be in the same form/condition it came off the PS3, the save file should be labeled PS3.

I'm not sure I'm following you completely but one thing to note is that if you load your save onto the wrong account (on the PS3) the game wont let you load it, and it will copy over it with the autosave function.

So you may have a good save, but if you loaded it on the wrong account, the save was overwritten once you fired the game up.

Good luck

1 save was saved to an SD card, the other save was saved to a sony memory stick. They were both copied from the save data utility feature under the games section of the PS3 home menu. So they were copied from the hard drive over to these cards/sticks some time ago. The computer had nothing to do with these saves until i recently checked them on my computer to see if they had somehow been wiped. I always keep them plugged in and for some odd reason they show up as empty no matter how i look at them on my PS3.

The saves were either both copied from pitchblackfires saved data utility feature over to the memory cards, or one was saved from each of my accounts. Either way both PSN accounts act like the memory cards are empty and have no saves or media on them.

The PS3 was sent in for repair since i had the YLOD and is now using a different hard drive that ive recovered the accounts onto since im praying i can find a way to get my data of the SSD i had previously installed in the system before the YLOD occurred. When i got the PS3 back with the stock hard drive i sent it in with, the first thing i did was pop in both the SD card and memory stick in. It asked to format the HDD in order for me to use it, then i recovered my accounts and using pitchblackfire saw both the saves. I used the previously mentioned memory stick device feature thing in the game section of the PS3 home screen to copy them to the hard drive. Sorry no im just starting to repeat myself, i wrote all this down in the OP.

One more thing to look into is whether or not you copied your "game data" or your "save data" because your acual game save is in the "save data utility", while the "Game data utility" only has your game settings, various data, pics and custom tracks.

So its possible that you dont have your save data, you may have saved the other "game data".
