Why can you only see back 100 posts for a user.
If for someone like Famine with tens of thousands of posts it will take too long, I understand.
However, surely there could be a drop down menu to skip to all posts for yourself. I say this as I would love to reminisce in the first threads and posts I did.

Just curious, or ignorant and havent found the 'More Posts' button or similar.

I have also always wondered about this.
I can't seem to remember my first post, and I can't check because it only goes back 100.

Is there any particular reason for this?

If you click the search button, type in their username, then click sort posts by date in ascending order it starts from their first post.

If the site kept an index record of every single post instead of the last 100, the server will pretty much screw up.

You can, however, find your first 100 posts by clicking Search in the yellow profile box on (top right of the page), typing in your name in Search by Username, and under Sort Results by, select Ascending.

Dammit, tree'd.

Searching through all the posts everyone has made puts a great strain on the server. The limit was made to be 100 a few years ago.

As the others have said there are ways to find posts even with the 100 post search limit.

I see by the time I typed this out, others have already replied, but to confirm, all searches are limited to 100 results to ease the load on the database server and to keep the site's operation more stable.

Specifically, to view a user's first posts or posts from a particular time period, change the "Sort Results by" option on the advanced search page.
