Do the seasonal races use online or offline physics? It seems like the cars have the grip of offline races but there is damage similar to online races. Thanks in advance.

To me they feel more offline than online physics.

offline, if you try to go out of the track, physics is set on light...
the thing i doesn't understand about IA is this: when you pass a car, the AI car brake and slow itself... why this Yama????

Seems to me that whenever you pass an opponent on the outside during a corner, the AI opponent will slow down, so giving way to you because you are the faster driver. I'm guessing it's a courtesy thing.

It's been like this for quite a while - I'm always gaining a place on the final corner at Laguna Seca, just come in tight behind the car you want to pass and as he goes into the turn take him on his right. Works 98% of the time, no contact.

This AI slowing down bug is really annoying and takes out the fun from a lot of races.

It doesn't only occur when taking the outside, also on the inside and sometimes when you're still behind the opponent only some inches away from his bumper.

I'm not sure when exactly this behavior got introduced, but they really need to fix it.

Feels like offline racing. Online races tend to generally make cars has lesser grip & traction, no matter what tires & vehicle chosen. Rumble strips also a more exaggerated effect on car suspension (I remembered when I used rumble strips on Nordschleife, it made my car spun out nearly every time, or it could probably mean a stiff suspension). I don't see any of the listed being shared to Seasonals.

The only difference between online and offline is that online can lag and that room owners can change the grip reduction on rumble strips and wet tracks.

Agreed!

No tire wear or fuel consumption might be the reason, but the cars don't drive the same as they do in a lobby.

They are definitely offline physics. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it is impossible to flip your car online. The last seasonal at Deep Forest I made it a point to cross the finish upside down and it let me.

Seasonals use offline physics. In online lobbies on the Nordschleife Karussell, I spin my car out a lot and have to go much slower to make it through. I don't ever spin out in the Karussell offline, including the seasonals.

It's not a bug. The bug is games where the AI doesn't behave realistically when you pass. As in, most other racing games (Forza is a great example of inferior AI).

That's one thing about GT5 I really like, but it's very hard to notice if you don't go out of your way to watch it. The AI in this game gets stressed out, and pays attention to other cars around him. But he doesn't wildly make a show of it. 99% of the time it makes no difference (just like in real life). But it's not so subtle.

The only real problem with AI is if you slam into the car to spin them out, they don't really behave as a real person would. I guess that's OK, as racing A Spec like that isn't very realistic. But I would like it if such incidents were a little more fleshed out.

The way they back off if you're clearly the better car is a great enhancement. Some find it boring, but they probably think almost everything about GT5 is boring. GT5 is not a good arcade game, but I don't want them to dilute their product when there are so many appealing arcade games out there.

ok good! im not the only one the noticed that when you overtake ai it slams the breaks on and gives up!! i though my car had a secret batmobile rocket boostet when ever i pass an ai car :p
