Let me just clarify.... this is about the Gameshark 2.
I'm not a big cheater,and because of that, I've never owned a gameshark,so
I really don't have a clue on what I'm about to get myself into. It's payday in like a week, and I want a gs2 so I can make all these cool hybrids like y'all are talkin' about, and I don't know what to do, or how to go about doin' it.
I don't have the net@ home, so i have a feeling that i'm not gonna be able to use a sharkport. Any help, and/or sites codes would be appreciated. Thanx. :banghead: :(

Don't bother.

Gamesharks et al. only have the one purpose - to cheat. Sharkports/Xports have the advantage that they can ALSO cheat, but are mainly for preserving your memory cards on your HDD (and an averag 40Gb HDD is 5000 times bigger than an 8Mb memory card).

The Ports are very, very easy to operate and as for creating hybrids... You can fill your entire garage with hybrids in about 25 minutes, as opposed to spending 25 minutes typing in lines of non-intuitive codes to make a single hybrid you aren't even sure will work...

I highly disagree with famine on one point at least. How do U use a lap modifier code or tire wear code with an Xport? As far as i know, the only cheating U can do with an xport is hybrids, modify credits, days and wins. Yes xports are way easier to deal with when building hybrids, but U can build just as good hybrids with the other cheat devices once U learn how, and yes it is a longer process than with an xport.

U don't need net access to use an xport, but u will to download MK's program, so to use the xport U would need to download it somewhere else and burn it onto a cd to install it on your PC. Your PC will also need a USB port to hook the xport to.

Bottom line is though, as Famine said, and I do agree, for hybriding the xport is better if U can swing it. If U do decide to go the code route, DO NOT GET A GS2. The GS2s on the market now are V3 or higher, and there are very few hybriding codes around for it. Buy a codebreaker, or an AR2.

okay, but what exactly do i have to use? (without downloading anything off the net-no pc) Cuz all that is way too confusing for me. I just wanna get something that has the ability to modify& make hybrids.:dunce: :dopey:

Well if U think downloading stuff from the net is confusing, wait till U try to build a hybrid with codes. Not that MK's can't be a bit confusing as well.

1st off, U haven't said where u are from, or what version of GT3 U have. That will partly decide what device U will need.

NTSC game, U should get a codebreaker, if U can't find one, get an Action Replay 2(AR2) for NTSC.

PAL game, get an AR2 for PAL.

Before U go out and buy anything, Have a Look at this GUIDE , and see if U can make sense of it. If not, U may not want to waste your money on the cheat device. If U decide to continue, I can give U a link for hybrid codes.

Also, if the fact that U have no internet service at home, and so U can't download MK's is the only thing stopping U from getting an xport instead, I'm sure there are people here, myself included, that would mail U a CD with the program on it along with some saves.

Why would you even want to? GT3 is far too easy to start with, never mind making it easier. That just sucks.

And as Heydu said, plenty of people around can burn mk's to a CD (thus filling it by a huge 1%) and mail it to you. Including me :D

Hey, thanks guys. I'm gonna check out that link, and I'll get back to you.....
By the way, I live in the US and I got the US version....not the PAL one :)

The question is not whether or not anyone would want to, I was just making the point that U can't do it. There are a lot of codes for this game and every other game that can not be used with an xport, so I was just clarifying your statement, as U made it sound that xports can do everything that a code type device can do and more.

It's also my opinion that U shouldn't pass judgement on anyone that wants to use that type of code anymore than U want people passing judgement on U for using hybrids. Those codes can also be used to increase the enjoyment of the game for some people, and as long as they are not used to beat the game, how is it any different than hybriding?

First, how? Second, yeah right.

When I was 11 I used to type in cheats to make games easier. Then when I started paying my own £40 for games like Vice City I decided to actually get my money's worth out of it.

How on Earth can people use a "Tyre wear" cheat or a "Lap modifier" code to increase enjoyment of the game, or to NOT beat it? It's just people who go "Oh, endurance. Screw that". Most hybriders have completed multiple GT3 games and race hybrids against friends in lap time contests, not the AI.

Hybrids are a potentially valid form of "cheating" - that which can be used to lengthen the experience of a game or make it harder. Anything else is not.

That said, did anyone ever finish Driver 2? That damned mission around the quarry was impossible!

I have competed in hybrid races where the lap modifier code was used to change a race to the desired amoumt of laps, and also races where the tire wear codes where used to give all racers an even slate as far as tire wear goes. It has nothing to do with beating the game, but much to do with getting enjoyment out of it.

U don't have to expell on me the validity of hybrids, I agree with U 100% on that, but let's just agree that we disagree about the other 150 or so codes that can't be used with an xport.

i think the real reason video games and cheats to, you know, video games, exist is just to inspire threads on the internet so modern day philosophers can debate the subject...my oldest son, ryan, who loves to use cheat codes, also loves to shut my mouth by beating me in doing things like licence tests and beating that driver 2 game...he races with man. shifting, and he beats me in 2 player, and he dosn't have a real licence yet, and i've been playing this game (i mean the GT series, 1, 2, and 3 anyway) about a zillion more hours than he has, and i'm still a auto shifter (i'm so ashamed, i drive a 5 speed jetta to work, but can't shift man. with a PS2 analog controller :banghead: ), and, and, i'm all out of ands...
