im having alot of trouble stayin connected to the online lobbys, i keep losing connection. I have a "high speed" connection 10/10mbit and i also get tolded alot that i have network incompatibility even tho im tryin to connect to the lobby i was just in? Im really enjoying racing online in GT5 but this is gettin the best of me, it says i have NAT type-3 will it help to forward the ps3 in my router?

any help that can bring me to stable online gaming would be very appreciated.

Test your ping at: pingtest.net
Test your speed at: speedtest.net
post the forum links here. That's a start 👍

nat 3 is killing you, if you run threw a router it should be nat 2

You shoul try your ping against a server located somewhere else from where you are at.

It's good if you're below 80..
Also, make sure that you use an ethernet cable to your PS3. Not wireless..

okay im already lost here, i am running threw a router, with a cable. but im still nat-3

also from what i can see my ping is between 11 and 31 so it should be fine right?

You have to try your ping to another server..

I live in sthlm and I tested my ping aginst the manchester server.. That's what you have to do..

How to get a Type 2 (Open) NAT on your PS3

Having a closed or limited NAT on your gaming console will cause a variety of issues. Similar to strict, moderate or open on an Xbox 360, the PS3 offers Type 3, Type 2 and Type 1 NAT results. These break down as follows:

Type 1 - Connected directly to the internet (no router/firewall). Should have no issues.

Type 2 - Connected through a router properly. Should have no issues.

Type 3 - Connected through a router without open ports or DMZ setup for PS3. Everything should function properly, but you may have connection, voice chat or other issues.

While most everything will function properly regardless of what your NAT setting is, your best bet is to set up your PS3 so that you can obtain a Type 1 or Type 2 NAT. Since most of us have routers at home for connecting multiple computers or devices to the internet, chances are the best we will get will be Type 2. Thankfully that's fine and everything will work properly.

If you have not adjusted your settings on your PS3 or router, chances are you have a Type 3 NAT and probably never knew it. With a few simple changes you too can have a Type 2 NAT. Order now for just $19.99. But wait, there's more.

The first thing you will want to do is check your network connection. Head on over to the Network Settings tab on the XMB. It looks like this:

This 👍

I was more thinking of lag issues.. If you got NAT 2, but experiance lag, it is probably your ping value that is to great for a smooth online race to take place for you.

thanks for the guide rouschfusion, will go thro it tomorrow.

Denilson, no i dont have lag. im gettin disconnected and then having trouble joine again. I also have the issue that sometimes, the people that join after me, i cant see them on the track so i have to quit the lobby and rejoin. but this can also be hard beeing a nat type-3 you cant use the lobby numbers in the upper left corner
