I just downloaded ThunderBird, I haven't ever used it before, nor have I used a program like it.

Right now I'm stuck at its second screen and its wanting to know what type of incoming server I'm using and to enter the name of the server. I use Yahoo as my main email account. Its giving me two options to check for my type of server- POP and IMAP.

This right now is what I need help with, I'm sure there are other screens I'm going to need to fill in but I haven't gotten to them yet because I need to answer this first.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Loon,

I have configured Evolution (standard e-mail program for Ubuntu, like Outlook) for my yahoo account, and did run into the same problem as you had.

To solve this, I went to the yahoo e-mail account and went directly to the help section (or settings, forgot which) for e-mail programs. So I would advise you to do the same as they will have all the information you could ever require to set up your e-mail account for desktop use.

From off the top of my head, Yahoo uses POP3 as an e-mail sender (as I understand it) and SMTP/STMP for outgoing mail.

It was rather easy to do it I have to say, so long as you have the information from Yahoo themselves.

Any problems or more questions, please ask! :)
