I'm using a Sauber C9 Race car at the moment, and I can't seem to get more than 2 laps out of it without the tyres turning to orange, then on the 3rd lap, they\re almost dark red. It's really frustrating with this car. I've changed both sets of tyres to R1 tyres which I assume are the hardest tyres you can get.

I find that my front tyres when racing are in good trim, but my rear tyres get blistered straight away. i'm not driving too hard, or skidding/drifting or anthing.............so is there anything I can do in general with yres/car setup to protect my rear tyres, or will I haveevery 3rd lap?

What track?

What are you using to drive with? A wheel or the DS2?

Is the car stock?

It sounds as if you are getting too much wheelspin. You need to learn better throttle control in order to help conserve your tires. And take off the stage 4 turbo if you are using it. On all of the group C LeMans cars, I find that using one tire compound softer in the front works well and tends to help the tires wear out at the same time. (Racing soft in the front and medium in the rear for example).

So can someone please show us how we can have:
-Fully tuned(so turbo stage 5 ect) cars

and

-Good grip

-Reasonable wear

- Wear at the front and the back the same.

Play with the spring settings. And if you say the rears are not spinning, sounds like most of the weight is on the rear tires and the fronts aren't supporting the car that much. Look aroung for some gt3 tuning guides for more information. Does the car understeer with new tires, I would think so but with the rears wearing fast, oversteer would occur quite a bit afterwards.

I can't find where to manual tune my settings, all I can find is the place where I can change my parts.

Its the little wrench icon beside them.

Remember you can't tune all the parts you've bought for your car. Only the Brake Balance control, Driving Aids (TCS + ASM), Suspension, Transmission, Limited Slip, Downforce (where applicable) and a few others on the extreme right of the tuning screen that I never bother to fidget with much.

It could also be caused by your wheels locking up under braking. Try adjusting brack balance and strength. Also try braking hard at high speed but ease of as you slow down to avoid locking the wheels.

I had a similar problem on some cars in gt3 and this helped

Thanks guys for all your help. I'm in the middle of the Mazda endurance race (why are these endurances so easy?)so i'll try it out after, but I think there is some really good advice here. Maybe my Sauber C9 is too heavily tuned, or like it was said before, im probably driving the car too hard maybe, cos even in the Formula Gran Turismo Car i won in the Nurburgring 24hrs, i seem to wear the tyres out too quickly, but the driver on b-spec mode handles them preey well ( i conducted a test with my tyres and the b-spec racing tyres ).

Quite surpised actually at how competitive the C9 Race car is with the Formula Gran Turismo car, the F1 car was only 1 tenth quicker in the 0-1000 test, and I think a tenth slower in the 0-400 test.

I found in the Nurburgring 24 hour endurance, that I had a 18 lap lead, so i just stopped my car for a7 or so laps and took a nice break without worrying about my tyres :)

Damn PS2, i shut it off after compleing the La Sarthe 24hrs (didnt go to the main menu to activate auto save) so im having to do it again , been up fr the last 12 hours racing non stop around here. Got an 11 lap lead around over the Mazda 787b so im gonna take a break for an hour and park my car at the side of the.

Ps2 shut of after 24 enduro race. I'd probably break the thing in to if it happen to me. Or at least react in some other randomly violent way

Mazda 787b 2th? :odd:

Ok question: How is the grid looking like?I would be very weird to see the Mazda 787b leading the Bentley Speed 8 or the AUdi R8.

Cheers,

Cheers,

( i done this in my Sauber C9 the first time, but thought i'd give the F1 car a go)

1) Formula Gran Turismo '04 (me)
2) Mazda 787B Race Car '91 15 laps behind (including me stopping my
car often on track to take
a break)

3) Playstation Percarolo C60 22 laps behind
4) Perscarolo Courage C60 Race Car - 23 laps behind
5) Nissan R390 GT1 Race Car - 27 laps behind
6) Panoz Esperante GT-R Race Car - 37.......38 now laps behind

coming up to lap the whole field now again. I find i had a similar performance actually and similarish lap times in my Sauber C9

On lap 304 just now, under 10 hours remaining. I was gonna do the race on B-SPEC mode since i already completed it before, but i wanna get experience in an F1 car and going 24 hours without playing GT4 is too much for me.

I'm having to pit in pretty much after every lap, 2 laps if i stretch it, as the tyres wear equally for the first part of the lap, then the front ones start to blister and go red, while the rear set is on yello. Using crappy R3 tyres/ .

If I understand you correctly you say that you won with the C9 with a 11 lap lead and you've played 14 hours with the F1 car and you're 15 laps in front of the second car.

I think when I have the PAL-version myself I'll drive a (much) slower car then the C9. The closer the results are, the nicer the race is for me (I can still remember that in GT3 I won the Rome Enduro with the Spoon Civic with a gap of 30 seconds after 2 hours...I would have more fun in a race like that than when I win with 11 laps :/ )

I agree sometimes I go on a harder compound than I need to aswell just to even things out.

Almost finished my endrurance now - 20 lap lead at the moment, and ive completely dropped of the pace for the last 4 or so hours. The Nurburgring endurace of 24 hours was more competitive for me cos i was in a Sauber C9 racing a Sauber C9, and my tyres were abysmal. I'm gonna try changing my set up to get more stability and tyre life. Two sets of R1 tyres hypothetically should give me the most life out of my tyres, but powerful race cars just eat them up anyways. In Gran Turismo 3, you could do multiuple laps on hard tyres before your tyres even bagan to warm up.

maybe you were bottoming out and your tires were striking your wheel wells.

....just a thought...i dont know if it's an actual variable in the first place.

How the ****ing hell can the 787b be faster then the Pescarolo's?

Ah well, I'm going to drive La Sarthe in the GT-ONE or the 88C-V Minolta 👍

......Or the Toyota 7.
